I don't know what to talk about and am honestly terrified. I am going to see a therapist because of my depression, social anxiety, transgender issues, and dissociation issues.

Well, why did you want to see a therapist? You could talk about that. Then stuff sort of flows from that.

I also have trouble talking and starting conversations. I don't find writing useful, because my problem is not inarticulateness (once I get started, I'm very fluent on whatever the topic is) but that I go blank when I'm expected to communicate. It doesn't sound like that's your problem, that maybe you're mostly nervous, so writing's worth a shot - especially if it's worked for you before in stressful situations.

I thought that too, as I am extremely shy and have social anxiety. But for some reason, words eventually just start to fall out when you are talking about your issues. I still have trouble, especially if they pause and stare at you waiting to speak - but usually they will say something if you don't - or ask you questions.

A good therapist will help you get comfortable. You don't have to do all of the work. Therapy can be a pleasant comforting experience for many.

Don't be terrified and go see a therapist, there is nothing wrong in it. It is just someone who knows and understand what you are going through and can help you heal. I am not a therapist myself but I learned sooo much receiving therapy, I will be forever grateful
