I wish sonebody would teach them about the harm they can cause but no mention of that. Why don't they teach this in the class? Quote:

This is a great article on the effects of unstable environments damaging the DNA.

Manufacturing Victims, a skeptical book about psychotherapy, is out of print, so author Tana Dineen now offers it free online.

As a parent of a young man, the opinions expressed by the author are spot on. What is the APA thinking?

Just realized that although I post things below, I'm not posting articles here, so I'll add some from time to time.
This is a practical explanation of DID by David Spiegel, MD: Coming Apart: Trauma and the Fragmentation of Self I think it also speaks to trauma in general since DID is just one extreme on the spectrum of trauma effects. |

I found this and it really shifted my thinking of trauma and denial.
Here’s the link and 2 pieces from the article that really spoke to me. The Denial of Trauma The psychological definition of trauma is “damage to the psyche that occurs as a result of a distressing event or an overwhelming amount of stress that exceeds the ability of the individual to cope and integrate the emotions involved.” This definition often gets simplified into the dictionary definition of “a deeply disturbing or distressing event,” which is where we all get a little lost. It’s very easy to understand trauma as something horrific, like war, or mass violence, or a natural disaster. It’s the “exceeding ability to cope and integrate emotions” section that gets lost on us. ——————— We need to get rid of the view that trauma is an action (an event). The more psychology tells us about trauma, the more it becomes clear that trauma is a reaction. Most importantly, it is an individual reaction. __________________ "What is denied, cannot be healed." - Brennan Manning "Hope knows that if great trials are avoided, great deeds remain undone and the possibility of growth into greatness of soul is aborted." - Brennan Manning |

"The incentive system in science and research is broken" --based on my weight I knew the claim that eating chocolate makes you skinny had to be false but yet I wanted to believe it. So much clickbait on the internet.
