Addressing skepticism about therapy. Especially foar those who are wondering whether therapy can really help them and whether to try looking for a psychotherapist.

"Analysts To Hold 'Virtual Rounds' On Psychodynamic Psychotherapy" early next year.

"There is no charge for the virtual rounds (they are being supported by a grant from the Laughlin Fund). Participants will need a computer with microphone and camera; Brown and Bender will be using Giro Meeting, a web-conferencing software, to host the virtual rounds.

“The sessions will be very interactive, and their success will come from the participants’ willingness to share their experiences with talking with their patients, with due regard for confidentiality,” ....

And this fun quote
"When clients drop out early, everyone loses. We clinicians lose a chance to help someone in need and our wallets and reputation suffer as well. The consequences for clients are even more dire. Those clients who drop out early display poor treatment outcomes, over-utilize mental health services, and demoralize clinicians."

https://www.psychotherapy.net/article/therapy-failure

Poor demoralized clinicians.

Some Patients Arouse Hatred, Therapists Find - NYTimes.com

I like how they put the focus on some patients arouse hatred rather than therapists can hate - if those pesky clients would not arouse them all would be well.

Here's something kind of fun. It's not an article but a fictional short story read out loud. The programs contains three stories. A funny one about a group of clients who get together to discuss their therapist is @ thirty minutes in. (Bonus: The program is hosted by David Strathairn, my favorite on-screen Psyche from "Alphas")

"True Confessions"

I am just a few minutes in but laughing because of similarities with my own Therapy session, mainly the T being sucha mystery and insisting the patient start at each session.

The brochure, "Professional Therapy Never Includes Sex."

Professional Therapy Never Includes Sex - California Department of Consumer Affairs

Document about the law in California requiring distribution of "Professional Therapy Never Includes Sex" to clients who report alleged sexual intercourse or alleged sexual contact during the course of a prior treatment.

Check out the language used when the therapist describes therapists versus the verbs and adjectives she uses about clients.

Bad Therapists

I particularly enjoyed this category:
"Signs that the Client is the More Powerful Individual in the Relationship"

This is how they see themselves.
