Basic but popular and informative article explaining Erotic vs. Eroticized Transference:

Recognizing and Managing Erotic and Eroticized Transferences

Psychiatry (Edgmont). 2007 Apr; 4(4): 47–50
PMCID: PMC2921238

Also a good article for those new to this subject.

Thank you so much for this thread. I'm seeking to apply psychotherapy with myself if I don't find a proper psychotherapist to help me cope with mad life. And having a thread that combines all psychotherapy related articles sure helps.

When I find a good article I'll sure share it here

CBT

http://www.nocread.com/gopdf/cogniti...a-template.pdf

http://www.personal.kent.edu/~dfresc..._a_Session.pdf

I particularly like the section of the appointment labeled "check in":
Limit the check in to 5 - 10 minutes
• If a significant event has happened, propose it gets added to the agenda and addressed in good time
• A time to chit chat and express warmth and to build the alliance
• Important that the therapist maintain a distinction between check in time and the rest of the session

“There’s an idea out there that psychological therapy is only helpful. But we think that patients who make choices about engaging in psychological therapy should be given information at the start, which is most people are going to benefit from an intervention, but some people may not.”

Therapy can actually make things worse for some people

"One of the most surprising findings was that relatively few participants (23%) reported that their therapists used humor appropriately. Not only was appropriate humor generally absent during the course of therapy, but inappropriate humor was amazingly prevalent, reported by almost 94% of the participants. Participants described some dismaying instances of hurtful jokes and related put-downs. One participant, for example, wrote that her therapist joked about her being suicidal; another described how her therapist belittled her for her fear during a biopsy for her fear during a biopsy for breast cancer. Such findings suggest that graduate training programs might devote more time to exploring the uses and misuses of humor in therapy."

Peer-reviewed med research on the neurobiological effects of child abuse and neglect: Annual Research Review: Enduring neurobiological effects of childhood abuse and neglect - Teicher - 2016 - Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry - Wiley Online Library

Unless you enjoy reading scientific articles, read the abstract and conclusions at the top and the key points at the end. It's a very interesting look at the state of neurobiological research as it relates to trauma with particular attention to the variables of type of maltreatment, gender, age, areas of the brain, and perception.

And a commentary on the article above (short) by van de Kolk:

Have just started reading "The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind and Body in the Healing of Trauma" by Bessel van der Kolk.

If anyone else has read it, any opinions on it?

I haven't read that particular title, but have read assorted articles by van der Kolk; I think he's very solid. The framework he suggests is how my T practiced.
