I think I have reached the point of diminishing returns for therapy. I may have made a little progress, but I'm not sure.

I guess I will mention this to the therapist today. I hate to keep wasting my own money and the insurance company's money.

If you feel like therapy isn't helping you feel better, then I think you should stop going. There is no point in wasting your money.
Thanks for this!

Thanks, everybody. I decided to keep going a bit longer. I want to solve this problem, and I have no other ideas besides therapy. But I'm not making progress. I'm in my late 40s, and maybe I'm just too inflexible now.

Is age really relevant?
Thanks for this!

You can't teach an old dog new tricks... IDK. You are right; I was probably inflexible as a young person too.

My co-therapists behaved like wounded bulls and turned very destructive when I conscientiously reported that therapy wasn't working. They tried every insult possible-using what they knew (and didn't know) about me to keep me in their grasp. I hope you don't have one of those pathetic specimens. I learned too late the client owes nothing except payment, and therapists can have have extremely fragile little vanities.
Thanks for this!

I've experienced the same thing. I left a message with one psychologist that I didn't want to continue. He called back and gave me a real tongue lashing about how that isn't the way to end an relationship and so forth. I only saw that guy for 3 or 4 sessions, and he never offered anything helpful during that time. Then he acted hurt that I wanted to stop.

Yep, I hope this therapist isn't like that. Right now I decided to continue, because I have no other ideas.
