Some of you might remember that I'll be inpatient this week for intensive EMDR treatment (3 hours a day)? Well, I've arrived at the unit. It's a VERY small unit - there's only 3 beds, all of which are full (so there's me and 2 others). The unit is for people with autism spectrum disorders (I have Asperger's). One of the staff members working tonight is one who used to work at the unit where I spent 9 months about a year and a half ago. My bed was made with orange blankets, which I changed as there's devices to read your thoughts in orange ink.

I won't have therapy tomorrow, as the T has to attend a funeral. (Therefore I could've arrived tomorrow instead of today, but because of reasons I won't go into here this was more handy)

Going to bed now.

It is raining! It is raining! Weird because last might we were on the National news because it hasn't rained much here in the last 3 years and the drought is forcing the koalas out of the higher areas and into the town looking for food. Not only are the poor creatures riddled with chlamydia the savage green ants are attacking them in their weakened state. I don't really ahve a fondness for koalas, as a wildlife worker they bite and scratch and the males make this horrendous noise. They are best handled with welding gloves.

Well, I am home from my haircut and shopping. I went looking for holiday socks to donate to the school's winter carnival. One of the teachers is hosting a sock-walk (like a cake-walk) at the carnival and needed socks for the kids to win. CVS where I worked had them yesterday, but I forgot to pick them up, so I went to CVS's up where I live and picked some up...as well as my CVS (it is near where I go to get haircuts). I love stacking discounts and coupons. I got about 60 pairs of socks for less than a dollar a pair. I just emailed the teacher to let her know she was probably set on socks and requesting that she give any left overs back to me to donate to a local shelter for children and abused women.

Now, I must get started on laundry and cleaning my disaster of a room.
Thanks for this!

Well, I did laundry and a little cleaning while washing clothes. Then I got hungry and cooked and ate while drying clothes. Now I need to get the motivation to finish cleaning. My room still looks like a tornado hit it. I need to put away the laundry I just did too. Just got an email back from the teacher running the sock-walk thanking me for the sock donation. I am too nice. Most people wouldn't care enough to get socks for the kids to win.

Well, I need to clean some more. Hopefully the kids at school won't make rude comments about my haircut like they did last time. I keep it pretty short, so last time they were calling me a guy and Mr. Squirrel instead of Ms. Squirrel.

I seek the wisdom of the Couch.

Has anyone ever taken advantage of Nordstrom's very liberal return policy? (i.e., no expiration date, return an item ten years later if you like) I have a sweater from there I now hate. Being a cheapskate, I'd like some money back (it cost $300 originally).

Do I need a receipt? Does it need to be pristine? How will they know I got it there?
Thanks for this!

They can usually look it up. I've taken things back without a receipt before at my store.

Back to my early mornings again tomorrow! It was nice sleeping in last week, working 10am-7pm with the newbies. Back to my usual 7am-4pm tomorrow. I'll be glad at 4pm, but forcing myself awake when 5:30am rolls around. I am so not a morning person but I do it anyway to get out of there at 4pm!

I made a bit pot of spaghetti today and did several loads of laundry, and cleaned up the kitchen. Feeling accomplished tonight. Now it's time to shower and roll up my hair so I can be all curly tomorrow, even though we get to wear jeans/t-shirts for the rest of the year. I love my curls they make me feel pretty I know it's kinda silly but.... well, I never used to feel pretty so it's still new to me and I'm having fun with it. Oh, I don't do the Victorian rag thing anymore. When I decided this was going to be a nightly thing, I bought a set of the not-quite-as-old-fashioned foam ones that are comfortable to sleep in. They're easier than the rag-tying!

I would wear my hair in a crew cut if I thought it wouldn't detract from my job (people focussing on hair rather than what I was saying)

Well, I just spent an hour looking for new toys for my mom's dog. Lol...so much for cleaning. Should get started on that now. I did kinda fill up a bag a little earlier and went to put it in the garbage, but the can was full. Tomorrow is trash day, so I can put it in tomorrow night when it is empty. I am off tomorrow night from CVS, so I can clean a little then too.

Can I say I am proud of myself? I remembered to take my pills every morning since Tuesday. Let's hope I can keep it up.

How do I remember now....I put them beside the computer, since I usually check my email in the morning before heading out to work.

I've only missed one night since Tuesday and that was the night I got home at midnight and I went straight to bed. Let's hope I can continue so I don't get any more non-compliance slapped in my psych record. Both pdoc's record and my new T's record have it in there. I see pdoc write it and T read from her notes of the previous session during last session. Not a good thing to have in your record, if I was ever admitted to the hospital for psych issues. But, I guess it is my own fault that it is in there.

I really prefer my hair as short as I can get away with. I had a guy stop me in Walmart the other day to tell me I look like a very short Jamie Lee Curtis. I thought that was pretty funny. Not the worst thing I have ever been called. My mother always told me not to wear my hair this short (up over the ears) because my ears are ugly. I am at the what the ****-ever stage about my ugly ears. hahahaha

I love short hair but I wasn't blessed with the hair texture to wear it. It's that awkward not straight but not curly, sort of wavy, always looks frizzy and in need of brushing. Also I've been overweight my entire life, so the double chin really detracts from the intended look. However since I got "old" (as if!!) I've been wearing it shoulder length and naturally wavy. I don't love it, but mornings go much easier with wash and wear hair.

Trying to convince the little that 10:15 is indeed WAY past her bedtime and waiting for her to succumb to some zzz's. Then I've got a couple more rows of stencil I really want to finish tonight, so when I get up tomorrow the addition will be done. I'm not on a time limit, I'd just really like one thing to be finished around here!

Good night couchies!

Maybe it's time for me to try short hair again... Had it short in college and most of my 20's. Usually you hear of women getting their hair chopped after they get married or have kids, but I chose to grow mine longer instead. I do like being able to pull it back in a ponytail, but I'm not sure having the longer hair is worth it, since it's wavy and prone to frizz. Hmm...

I heard that one time Nordstrom took a set of tires back, even though they don't sell tires! I think they've made their policy a bit less liberal now, but it's worth a shot.

Oh, and thanks, everyone, for the support last night about me being upset at what my H said to me. Feeling better today, but still not great. It's something I was already feeling about myself--that's why it cut me particularly hard. Basically that I'm making less money than I think and have more free time than I think I do (I work part-time from home). But I also get our daughter off the bus at 4 and watch her during her many days off from school, saving us a bunch on daycare. Besides the many days that schools are closed anyway, she has off from her pre-K program every other Wednesday. Between that, taking her to speech once a week, and therapist/marriage counseling appointments, it's not like I have huge amounts of time. Last year, she had half-day preschool, then was at daycare (also went on her days off from school), where my H picked her up and brought her home around 5:30. So I've basically lost 90 minutes a day for when she's in school. I feel like I'm whining, but add depression/anxiety to that, and it's been a rough transition this school year for me. OK, I still feel like I'm whining...

I like my hair collarbone-length. It's curly, so I don't bother to do anything with it except have the color touched up every 6-8 weeks or so and a short trim.

Hairdressers scare me so I only get my hair cut every 2 years or so. I'm thinking might be getting too old for waist length hair.
