I don't think so. I don't recall any robots.

I look at it this way: any word I get from my daughter is a gift from God.

I'm glad to know you, but it did take time.

Oh, me too, I have a 16 year old son.
I tend to worry that he doesn't like me and I'm annoying him. Bt he is coming out of it now, and can be quite sweet. Though his life is a closed book.

I've never seen the problem with your way or been puzzled by it. I could see myself doing it. The advantages are immediately obvious. Any disadvantages are your call.

I am SO thankful none of my boys went through that stage with us, but I do think it is fairly typical. Probably the closest of our three to do this was my middle son, but he is so quiet by nature that it wasn't that out of the ordinary for him. He was going through a difficult period at that time and it was pretty rough going for awhile. We did get him in with a therapist for a bit which seemed to help and also seemed to open up the lines of communication in our house.

Agh - I have had the "he was despised" aria stuck in my head for a day. And it is back again.

Hate it when that happens. I constantly have some piece of music stuck in my head; it's been a lifelong malady. Sometimes the pieces are pretty funny though. I recently had "The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers" running through my brain . . . that was amusing. Recently it has been my Christmas concert music which can become pretty annoying when it's "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year." Hate that piece and I'm singing it at every concert.

Yes - I hate it when xmas carols get stuck. I often have some baroque piece playing in the background so it usually changes - right now I can't get this particular aria gone no matter what else I play.
And there are happier parts of the messiah that could get stuck. Usually for me it is "all we like sheep"

We are singing "Glory to God" in our concert which is gorgeous and fun to sing. I don't mind that one stuck in my head. "The Trumpet Shall Sound" is another decent one to keep up there.

I know - I have tried The trumpet shall sound - but it gets knocked out by despised and rejected every time.
At least it isn't and with his stripes they shall be healed.
Right now I am playing an album by Alison Balsom to try to get trumpets there. Next step will be to break out the super mario bassoon quartet youtube videos or kim walker cds.

Try this one. Our principle tuba is playing this at our concerts. It is a crowd favorite and pretty amazing to listen to each night (this isn't us though):

Lola thanks for the links! For some unknown reason I've had "Strangers in the Night" stuck in my head for 3 days. It's lovely to replace it with these!

Sewing slipcover arms currently. Had to take a break after ripping out a 35 inch seam that I sewed on the wrong side. Got a lovely cramp in that muscle under my thumb, so figured I'd pop in here for a bit.

See you later couch!
Thanks for this!

I am doing some billing and watching Sun Valley Serenade. It has the Nicholas Bros tap dancing. Very fun. One the the two Glenn Miller movies. Sexist silly story line - but the music is fun and Sonja Henie ice skating. Maybe I will get Chattanooga Choo Choo stuck now instead of the Messiah arias.

I'm watching an old U2 concert. I'm perfectly fine with having U2 songs stuck in my head
