Is it possibile to have a proper diagnosis in 2 sessions when you have already filled out all your forms?

That's a pretty general question, Sinking. Do you have more information/context?

It could be. Depends on the diagnosis.

Maybe. I think some things might be easy to diagnose (depression?) whereas others (personality disorders?) might take more time to really understand what's going on.

Were you given a diagnosis? Do you feel like it's not accurate?

Also, if you're using insurance to pay, I *think* that (in the US) your T *has* to give you a diagnosis, right from the start. Insurance won't pay without a diagnosis... (not 100% sure, but that's the impression I have.) In this case, I think most good Ts will give you the "least bad" diagnosis that they think might fit, to help you avoid future problems, and to give them something to work with (re: insurance) until they know you better. Even when they start to know you better, the ones that I've seen tend to try to stick with the "least damaging" diagnosis on official paperwork that will allow you to be treated.
Thanks for this!

Guilloche is correct - if you are using insurance in the US, the therapist has to put down a diagnosis as the reason for why you are receiving treatment.

I think that it depends on the diagnosis and the present symptoms.

No they havent diagnosed me yet, even though i'm using the MHC for 6 years. They say it just doesnt matter but it does for me so i turnrd to a private T. Wondering if 2 sessions are enough. I cant afford more.

I sort of get that sense, too. It just seems unlikely to me that you've been using the MHC for that long without a diagnosis. Maybe you can ask to look at your records?

I am more than willing to bet that since you have been inpatient, there is definitely a diagnosis that has been given. It may just be a code and you would have to look that up, but if someone/some agency/ some insurance is paying for a hospital's service, there is bound to be a diagnostic code somewhere.

But you are in another country, so rules may be different? Not sure.
Thanks for this!
