Have you noticed or ever wondered why this specific forum always has the most viewers?

Just joined. I found this forum because of a Google search. Nice to be here.

There are probably different reasons for different users but off the top of my head, a lot of people like the couch as it is a good social board, lots of people have issues in therapy that they think nobody else can understand or people might judge in real life, a lot of people spend a lot of time thinking about T outside session and this is a good place to vent about that, and because people are here more than on other forums,, some people have found like-minded people here, and that's not an easy thing to find in real life.
Also I guess a lot of the other boards are quite specific to a particular disorder or issue, whereas therapy covers a broad spectrum. |

Strange. I have no interest in the couch.

I don't think it is much of a mystery. Therapy crosses over all diagnoses, so it is a forum that pulls from the entire PC demographic. Other highly viewed forums also fall into that category, along with the most common diagnoses of depression, bipolar disorder, etc.

I am mostly on relationship and communication forum and also this one because both forums has variety of people with variety of experiences. Other forums are too specific for either specific MI or very specific issues and I don't fit in to any category. I also periodically go on general social chat/distraction type of forums like coffee house for distraction etc
Few times when in some type of crisis I used emotional support chats. I found it helpful Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think it's because there is something about therapy that is very intriguing. The way it works and how people feel about there therapist.

Maybe because this is a Mental Health site?

I did not notice - but I would go with it is because we are the most interesting and fun to engage with.

I think it's because there is no other socially acceptable forum to discuss your feelings for a therapist.

I kind of think it might be because we fight so much.

I don't see most of them as fights - just passionate disagreements. Which can be fun.
Go with the fun part people.

I also think the passionate disagreements are fun.
But seriously, in real life I cannot talk about my therapy with anyone. People look at you like you have three heads. Where else can you say "I have erotic transference for my t". ETA: I am not one who has ET for my T....just an example |

Someone once told me that "most of the people on PC have BPD and that their need for constant attention is what keeps that forum going."

I'll buy that. Ask for or offer support are the rules. Not sure what comprises the bell curve or when you get tired or sated and fall off it, but yeah.

Are there stats to support this?

People with BPD don't have a monopoly on attention seeking, and there are very few posters on here who even appear to be attention seeking anyway. Most seem to have genuine problems, advice or opinions.

Maybe also because people who are in therapy can't stop talking between sessions

Yeah, this too, I think therapy unlocks something in me. A desire to talk about feelings. I can get impatient for that.

Omg... I was found out, my bpd attention seeking, manipulative ways are why I post here!
![]() I think most people stick around to wait for Stopdog to announce she contacted one of her T's while drunk or offered somebody a hug! Hehe..

Meh, I wouldn't take that too seriously. How do all the other discussion forums keep going in the Internet? Ya don't need people with BPD or a need for constant attention to gather chatty people to talk about therapy or any of the other zillions of things people talk about online.
