Reading M. Scotton Peck's "the road less travlled" - wish I reread it a couple of years ago. But anyway, this page pipped up.
Thanks for this!

So it's perfectly okay to have feelings towards to or about your therapist. And if it's a good relationship, you'll both have respect and warmth towards each other.

I HAD all those books though I think I lost one lending it to a friend. My sister turned me on to those books and I found them very powerful.

I've always tried to measure my relationships against his definition of love. Something like "nurturing the spiritual growth of another" or something like that. I'm still up in the air as to whether or not I've pulled that off and I'm on my 2nd marriage.

Yes, the will to extend yourself for another's spiritual growth and wellbeing. So I guess I'm trying to figure out if t does love me in that way.
Thanks for this!

Anyway I got sick of people labelling any feeling for the therapist as transference.
Thanks for this!

Well by this definition we're all good.

How do I make my text bigger? Your responses are in a better font size

If you want to change your text you have to "Go advanced." You'll see that at the bottom where you type your replies. It will give you more options than quick reply. You highlight the text and then choose size - you can see how big they go. If there is a way to make it permanent, I don't know. I can't even get the chat feature at work to keep my color or text permanent, but going advance will give you additional options, one of which is size.

Thank you so much for posting this. When I first developed transference feelings and love for my therapist it felt wrong. She has shown and taught me that its not. I have also learned its bound to happen when someone shows you such genuine care and listens to you without judgement.
Thanks for this!

Also makes me want to tell my t that when he pisses me off, it's something he's done, not my father or brother or whoever he thinks I'm transferring my feelings for. E.g. writing lots of notes drives me crazy.
Thanks for this!

It looks like a good read, but there seems to be a lot about religion in it? That puts me off. I do like what he says about transference, though. Thank you for sharing that.

It's been a while since I read it, but just know, I'm SO not religious and I kept reading ALL of them. So it's not as religious as you might think. I consider myself a heathen so it has the heathen seal of approval lol.
