I've been seeing a therapist and psychiatrist for a year now. For those who haven't read my posts on the matter before a quick recap: Primary care physician suspected depression and I shared that my sleep was extremely poor. He ordered a sleep study which showed I was getting zero percent stage three or REM sleep. Fearing for my sanity, he referred me to this psychiatrist who prescribed something to help me sleep and encouraged my primary to prescribe pain meds for nighttime. I suffer from chronic pain and it was interfering with my ability to go to and stay asleep.

Anyway, beyond that, my therapist and psychiatrist have been more or less useless. My disability attorney has recommended that I continue to go in the event that they come up with a dx that will further help my disability claim but it's painfully frustrating to see them. We are an incredibly poor fit. I haven't been able to change providers for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the progress we've made toward a dx, which is the only reason I'm going. Too, insurance won't allow me to see someone out of the county, and my county is incredibly short on options.

But! I found some funding available from an alternate source and had a free consultation with a therapist in the neighboring and significantly larger county whose office music isn't the theme from Deliverance. It was awesome. I spent fifty minutes with her and it is a perfect fit. I start seeing her officially tomorrow for a ninety minute session and have found myself amazed that I am actually excited to go. I will still be seeing the other therapist and psychiatrist until I get a firm dx, but I have a place to go and be listened to now.

Anyway, it's good news and thought I'd share. Thanks to those who were supportive while I was on here venting about my previous experiences.
