I had a good session today but once I got home, I got really sad thinking about how I probably only have until the end of May to be with my T. I'm graduating from grad school and I'll probably move back to my home state after so I won't be able to see my T anymore.

I kind of want to briefly talk with her about what the end will look like even though it is months away. I have a hard time believing she will cut me off completely (no phone calls or contact) once I move but I'm really not sure. I'm hoping she would allow me a phone session or two after I move but it would be helpful for me to know that now, either way, so I can prepare myself mentally. My thought when I got home today was to email her a day or two before my session next week and tell her I want to talk about this. That way she would have some time to think about it if she hasn't already since I don't want her making a decision on-the-spot. I also doubt she will give me a firm answer now but again, it would be nice to get some direction.

Do you guys think this is an okay thing to do?

You should absolutely do this. It's very important to end therapy in a way that feels good for you. Your T probably knows this too. Good luck!

My T and I have been talking about termination since first session. I've only been with her for 9 months, and w/o termination in the near future. After ex-T abandoned me, I want to be as sure as possible that I'll get to experience a proper termination. We also talk about it to make sure I'm aware of the boundaries of the relationship.

Anyways. I think you should definitely talk to your T.

Absolutely do that. I'm sorry you'll have to leave your therapist by May, it must be really painful. Hugs
