I'm anxious before/during every session. Sometimes worse than others because of the content. Sometimes when it's really bad my T will stop our conversation and ask if I'm nervous because I tend to fidget a lot and shake my leg. My T doesnt comment on it that much but only when it's obvious. Like last week I was tense and my T said I looked "stressed" a few times in that one session.
Thanks for this!

I'm anxious before group. The T used to comment on it. Now we do meditation at the start to help me and anyone else with the anxiety.

Yes, before and during. It's getting better though, - nearly two years in
My T doesn't comment on it. A couple of times I have been really 'in one' and she said she could see I was suffering.
Thanks for this!

Often. It's gotten MUCH better over time and anymore I usually relax after 10 or so minutes into session. T comments when it's bad. If it's extra super bad (to the point where I can't have a productive session) we do a grounding exercise or something.

I get so anxious before my sessions that as I am sitting in the waiting room I get a some what bad stomach ache. Usually during sessions I am not that anxious. My last session I was super anxious as we were introducing a new form of touch and I didn't know what it would be like. I started to visibly shake and I was lightheaded and breathing weird. My T asked if I was anxious and I said yes. I love how she says "Its ok". I think she could see I was a mess inside. It was helpful for me to process that anxiety with her.

In my last round of therapy, i spent about a year trying not to vomit before every session...and therapy always kept me "regular" if you know what i mean. My anxiety lessened in that i just would be regular nervous, and not vomit-nervous, but it never really went away.

In this therapy, I was really anxious for months and months. My T commented on it a few times, but after awhile she was like "Yeah, i know you're nervous, we'll just ignore that and dive in." For some reason it helped, and as long as my week has been relatively fine, and i didn't feel like i crossed some boundary of hers, i almost look forward to going!

I actually am REALLY upset that this stupid snowstorm is hitting this weekend, because i am missing therapy.
Thanks for this!

I usually have some level of anxiety and fidgetiness, but there have been several sessions where I was working on some really intense stuff. During those sessions, I feel super shaky inside, and I know my legs shake up and down, and I used to bite my nails down so short they would bleed and hurt. I got a fidget toy like kids use for ADHD in the classroom. It helps me not bite my nails which also keeps my hands out of my mouth when I'm trying to talk. Sometimes I'll use one of T's koosh balls instead of the fidget toy. T knows I'm anxious but he doesn't comment on it in the moment.

It really depends. If I'm anxious that day in general, then yes, I'm anxious during my session. If I'm fine during that day but something comes up in my session I may become anxious. My T always knows when I'm anxious because I start playing with my necklace, and if I'm anxious enough we'll do a grounding exercise before moving on.
Thanks for this!

Repeat.

I'm always pretty anxious in therapy and I fidget a lot with my hands. I think I'm more anxious in therapy than I am anywhere else. My T commented on it sometimes in the beginning, but she hasn't been doing it lately. I guess she's used to it with me now.

Yes, particularly with T, if there's something I want to discuss, but I'm nervous about. She'll say something like, "You seem really anxious today" and sometimes offer to do relaxation exercises with me. It was so bad about a month ago that I said I needed to use the bathroom since I felt sick. I was OK, but after I came back in and we talked a minute, I started sobbing. I've found that I tend to feel most anxious when I'm holding emotions and feelings in.

It's weird, I very rarely am anxious around my marriage counselor. He has this calming effect on me. There have been a couple times I've been anxious in there, like when I was first talking to him about the transference. He was like, "You seem nervous" and I said I was. He said there was nothing to be afraid of. Then at the end of the session, he commented on how brave I was to discuss it, then was like, "OK, I guess there was something to be afraid of..."

P-doc mentioned last session that I seemed anxious, and I wanted to be like, "Yes, I've been horribly anxious every time I've met with you since you suggested/pushed the day program/intensive outpatient program in September!" but instead I was just like, "Yeah, I'm kinda stressed right now."

Yes but it doesn't impact my ability to speak with her so I think she just goes with it. There's no way she doesn't notice me fidgeting and talking quietly at the beginning of the session but she has never commented on it.

It depends on one's history, as to where the anxiety is coming from And of course it becomes part of the therapy.

Yes, I usually get somewhat anxious right when I walk into the room. It usually settles down when we first start talking. Then is rises when we talk about uncomfortable stuff.
