My T emailed me his article, knowing my past (toxic) relationships with my professors, one of whom i dated. do you think he is trying to recreate a relationship like that with me so that I can talk about it? why does he continually ask if i've read it? is this a way of encouraging transference?

Maybe he just finds the article helpful for you?

What is the article about? Could it apply to you? Have you expressed any interest in the subject? Did your professors give you their articles to read? Etc.
Without more context, it's kind of hard to say. |

My T gave me an article once because it was on the topic of something we were discussing in therapy. It was meant to create discussion around the topic. Perhaps this is what your T is doing? Can you ask him?

Have you read it? Was it helpful?

Since we cant read his mind, how about just asking him why?

Yeah, my professors used to give me their articles, but i would ask for them. With T i didn't ask, he just asked one day for my email. it is about latinos and bilingual therapy. I'm not latino but it did help to know that he was into social justice. The prof. i dated was into social justice. I wonder if he's trying to make this connection
