No point to this post other than to vent my frustrations.

So I've been wanting to get in to see a Pdoc for a while so I saw my GP who referred me to one that she recommended. I called the Pdoc's reception and find out she had a waiting list until the end of July/beginning of August. I want to see someone sooner so I went back to my GP and explained this to her and she said most Pdocs having waiting lists of similar lengths. She called the Pdoc's receptionist to try and get me in sooner and for the receptionist to call me and arrange an appointment. Anyway, the receptionist called me today and said the next available appointment isn't until OCTOBER! What the hell?! Ugh, I'm so sick of this. I work full time so going to all these appointments is a huge inconvenience and I also find it embarrassing taking time off work to go to them.

I don't know, stuff like this just really stresses me out for some reason . I feel like no one is really trying that hard to help me (except my T).

There's long waiting list here in America too, unless you've money to see the expensive ones. The average wait in my state is 3-5 months. Other states with better medical and more doctors, it is less.

They're all about the same cost here I think (which is not cheap). I've just resigned myself to a life of misery now.

That sucks!! I am so sorry. I waited for several months to see my pdoc for the first time, too. And it was hard after that because if I had an issue with medication or I wanted a change I couldn't come in to see him for minimum two months. I wish I had a solution for you.

It's so frustrating! Like we don't have enough issues to deal with already!

I'm currently almost done tapering off Pristiq (it was causing excessive sweating and wasn't helping with my depression). I want to see a Pdoc though because I want a professional opinion on wether medication would even help me at all. I personally suspect I have BPD which if that's the case apparently responds better to therapy rather than meds (from what I've read). I've brought up my thoughts about BPDwith my T but she doesn't believe labels are helpful so I still don't have definitive answer. I'm going to try and talk to her about it again in this context and see what she says...

That is such a long time to wait, it sounds silly they can't get people in before that.
Thanks for this!

Even if you have BPD, medicationcan help with depression, anxiety, mood swings, thoughts, etc.

Yes, this is true which is why I want to see a Pdoc. To be honest I've kind of given up on the whole thing though.

Does the p-doc have a cancellation list, where if someone cancels an appointment, they call someone on that list? (Not sure if they do that in Australia.) If so, ask to get put on that.

Well the second time I saw my GP I told her that when I called the Pdoc the next available appointment was end of July / beginning of Sugust and I want to see someone sooner than that. Instead of referring me to someone else like I asked she called the Pdoc and told them what was going on and for them to call me to make an appointment. They called me and told me the next appointment wouldn't be until October. The whole thing is ridiculous and I've had enough. They can all get @$*#ed.

We do have waiting lists in Australia but clearly some people don't know how they work or I'm not important enough to be put on one.
