I'm having some medical issues recently, and discussed them at my last session. I had an appt with a specialist later that day. My therapist asked me to text her after my appointment to tell her how it went.

She said that she cares about me.

She has mentioned texting her before, but I never do bc I don't want to be a special case who is always bothering her.

I did send a short text letting her know how the appointment went, and she replied.

However, I can't see myself doing this regularly, no matter how bad I'm feeling. Even if I was about to commit suicide (which I'm not!!) I wouldn't bother her.

Is this normal? Does anyone else feel this way?? I do like my therapist, and feel comfortable talking to her, but feel like I should leave her alone between sessions.

Does this make any sense, or is it just another mental issue I have??

Text her... it's what she's there for.

If you don't feel comfortable, you don't have to have out of session contact. It's there if you need it/want it. You can just explain that to your T.

Its a process. And it depends on how each client / t couple wants to handle it.

It sounded like she was being genuine, but I know how you feel. Mine doesn't text or email
he has offered to call and check on me, but its uncomfortable to say yes cause then i feel needy. i get what your saying. there have been so many times i have wanted to call but couldn't.
