Hi,
Is there such a thing as online therapy? I cannot get to an office due to transportation issues and also I can barely go out. In my area they offer nothing other than having to go in to the office.
If anyone has any info on this I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

Hi TidesofChaos Online Therapy

Welcome to a great community with lots of supportive people. I have heard there are online therapists available (a lot). Just use your search engine (google) and enter online therapy.

Good luck and take care of you!

Online Therapy

There is online therapy. There are resources and information on this site under the resource tab, or I could find more links for you also. You might want to look at www.ismho.org (I think that's right - or google ISMHO) for information. That's the International Society for Mental Health Online. I had online therapy for a while. I just asked the therapist I wanted to work with if she would consider it. She had not done online therapy before. The nice thing about that, besides working with the therapist I chose, was that she was not so far away that I couldn't go and meet her. Now we are only doing regular therapy in the office, and I drive 2 1/2 hours to see her. I think that online therapy is better when you can actually meet in person too. It's done internationally though.

I have done online therapy a couple of times; there are "rated" therapists and "instructions" at http://www.metanoia.org the Web's oldest such site. That's where I have gotten both my online therapists from and they were both just what I needed at the time.
