And even though I don't give Holiday gifts to my therapist, I might just need to order a second one for next year and give it to her!

no I would not. simply because a public place where there may be children like in a therapists waiting room/ a mental health waiting room would not be the place for this kind of coloring book, it might even get the agency shut down for having something like this where a child can see, sound out the words or otherwise be subjected to it. can you imagine a parent of a child sitting in the waiting room and the child sees an adult coloring these words and the child happens to see the words. some of those words are only found in porn so again it would be a violation of a mental health agency to have a coloring book with words that are sex related in their reception\waiting room.

now mind you Im not saying its wrong for adults, just that theres a time and a place for it and where children are is not where a book like this should be open or colored. I would certainly color these words while soaking in a bath or in my room away from my children. I mean i certainly do not want my children who are learning to sound out words with sesame street be sounding out those words and then repeating them in a shopping mall, in day care, ..can you just see it when a child sitting in a therapists waiting room sees these words and then goes to school or day care and writes out what they saw or says what they sounded out. can we say child protective services at the parents door wondering what is suddenly going on with this child spewing swear words they saw in an adult coloring book.

ok enough of my rambling you get the picture... for me no i would not take this coloring book to my therapists waiting room and color it, its a public place wrong place, wrong time for something like this for me.
Thanks for this!

Ouch! Don't I feel spanked!

Actually, Amandalouise, I think everyone on the thread was having a bit of fun thinking about pulling out the coloring book or giving it to their therapist, as in, how would you utilize the swearing color book to let your therapist how painful therapy is? Joke! I don't know about the others but my therapist is amused and even encourages a good swearing rant every once in a while.

I really don't think anyone posting on the thread had any plans to whip it out in front of the kids in the waiting room or to leave it sitting on the therapist's waiting room magazine table or to pull it out when the neighborhood kids come over for a visit to their house. I get the urge to caution people, but please give us a little credit for understanding the need to protect children. Thanks!

I don't have an urge to color, I don't go into the waiting room, it is private, the therapist is an adult therapist not a child one, and I just say most of those things directly to the therapist if I decide it is useful. but I really do not see the coloring book as different from graffitti or what is on tshirts etc. and more private because children should be controlled and not coming over and reading what I am reading. If they are old enough to read - the words are there and I don't believe in shielding children from such things. I don't consider other people's children my problem when it comes to written vocabulary words that I don't hand directly to them.

Amanda's right, little pitchers have big ears... and eyes! My nephew freaked out at gwammy's tarot cards when The Lovers came up - he thought they were naked people, which they were. But as adults, we werent even fazed ( @@)!

My T doesn't have a waiting room and her office is a one room building on a farm, so no little kids and no one else to offend, I've never seen people leave T's room or anyone waiting for me to leave T's room.

But it would be interesting to pull out in session having coloured it. Or as I tend to fiddle and fidget in sessions it might be good to keep me focused Would love to fill in this colouring book

Although I just got myself a Harry Potter adult colouring book, I think T would appreciate that more than the swear word one as we spent at least 10 minutes a time in our first few sessions bonding over our geeky love of all things potter.

I even took my wizard money (a Galleon, a sickle and a Knut) in to show her as she had not ever seen them (I got them from the studio tour in London).

My young son was getting his hair cut in the hairdressers today when the f word came on the radio. Hairdresser ran to turn it off and we all had a bit of a laugh about it. My son didn't even notice, just wondered what we were laughing at.
The way I look at it, as long as you teach your kids good morals and self-respect, that's far more important than what they may or may not hear in terms of swear words. They hear it all in the playground anyway.

I have a few swear word coloring books but this one does not appeal to me because I find a lot of the C words triggering and don't really use them.

Hmmmm...an agency shut down?? CPS would make a call for a child spewing swear words?? You've got me curious now as to where this might actually happen.

Around here, swearing from a child would not get the attention of family services. I can mostly imagine the people there I have worked with laughing at the phone caller, not jumping into action.

Exactly.
And I've seen other clients with shirts with "offensive slogans" on them in the waiting area. That doesn't get the practice shut down.
And every now and then we have someone burst out wailing or swearing and run off to the carpark.
Oh and the swear words are in cursive script and decorated. So...
Thanks for this!

I've never heard of child safety being called out for swear words. That's insulting compared to the real stuff kids get put through like neglect, malnourishment, sexual abuse, physical abuse
