My T and I terminated on Thursday because she will be my tutor in January.

The ending was lovely. We worked up to it over 4 weeks.
It was done with gentleness, kindness and a whole lot of care. I felt it so very deeply.
She said she will leave my stone at reception for me as she forgot it (no judgment please, she explained why and I understand) and will text me when she has done that.

She hugged me so tight before I left I didn't want to let go, then she rested her hand on my face and told me I would be OK. I'll never forget that moment and the feeling of being cared for so deeply.

I asked her to sit down as I left, something about me leaving her and her not walking me to the door made me feel better.

I sent an email later that same day to thank her for everything she has done for me and helped me through during different parts of my therapy, like a snap shot of thanks I guess! It was a process I needed to do to wrap everything up nicely. I don't expect a reply, but if she does it will be on Monday.

My T and I have had one hell of a year, we've been on a roller coaster of emotions and had a few ruptures but we made it to a positive ending, and a lovely one at that which I'm very, very grateful for.

I wanted to share my positive termination as I've read a lot about awful, painful endings here just lately and I like to think it will give some of you hope to know that it can happen.

Thanks Mona. It really was a lovely experience and very healing...not what I'm used to at all so it took a while for me to process it! I'll never forget that ending or the therapeutic journey I went on with T. Termination.

That's very positive Itjustis. And your journey will continue although in a different way when she's your tutor.

I'm glad to hear a positive termination story. I've been working with my therapist on ideas like that and my fear of him terminating me, so the stories lately have been triggering for me. It was nice to read this.
