For those of you who have done exercises or activities in therapy (in the form of worksheets, arts/crafts, games, role playing, anything!), which particular one sticks out as being the most helpful to you? Did it help you look at something in a new way, learn about yourself, manage a certain symptom?
Thank you!

I've done lots of art and some role playing and it's actually helped a ton! The art, helps get me to open up more and to talk about things that are hard to talk about. The role playing has helped prepare me for certain situations.

I really like CBT work sheets; analyzing my triggers and behaviours and trying to think differently about situations. I also like that it allows you to indulge in any unhelpful thoughts.

Jung's sand tray is a popular one.

We did role playing while I was inpatient.
We arranged two chairs in the center of the group with me sitting in one chair and another person sitting in the chair in front of me -with their back facing me. My T had talked about me choosing a guy ...and role play that he was my dad so I could express some anger at him..or to see where it went. Well, when the time came I picked a middle aged woman. Dunno why. When she sat in her chair all I could mostly see was the back of her head. Her hair reminded me of my grandmother.

I do sand trays sometimes, have drawn pictures, and done short Active Imaginations during sessions. Creative stuff is helpful for me.

I have a lot of problems with anxiety and I am really hard on myself (perfectionistic). So my therapist made me keep a journal where each night I wrote down three things I did that day that I was proud of. It was really hard at first but it actually helped a ton because it forced me to be kinder to myself.
