From reading some stuff online, I think it may actually be related to my neck being hyperextended from washing my hair in the sink. Since my neck hurting like that and feeling a little dizzy from that seems to trigger a panic attack. (And now that I read an article about people having strokes from that--even more prone to panic!)

I know some places like Hair Cuttery won't necessarily require you to wash your hair (at least they don't with my daughter). I'm wondering if there are any salons that would let me do that? (I also often have allergic reactions to the shampoo/conditioner, so that doesn't help matters either!) Like could I explain to them beforehand, and maybe show up with my hair wet if necessary? Or would that be entirely too weird to ask?

Maybe instead of saying it's due to panic, I could say I have a neck injury and can't lean back in the sink...I mean, there must be some people who have neck problems/injuries and can't wash their hair in those little sinks, and I presume they can still get professional haircuts...right?

Yes, I go in with clean (sometimes still wet) hair and decline the shampoo every time. I don't even say why.
Thanks for this!

I had my hair really short for 15 years. 2 years ago, I started growing out the top a bit for a wedding I was in and after that wedding I just never went back to get a hair cut. So, fast forward 2 years later and my hair was a bit past my shoulders, but so stringy and uneven, so I went to the salon and got it cut into a bob, but I HATE having to actually style it everyday. So I have 2 choices..cut it off or let it grow..but I think I'm just gonna let it grow because I like being able to just tie my hair back and not have to do anything with it.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for all the haircut advice! I'm not sure why it never occurred to me that I could just say "I washed it earlier, so you don't need to wash it." And if they want to wet it in the sink, I could say I have a neck injury. Or, skipping a step, "I have a neck injury and can't use the sinks, so I washed it this morning." Not having them wash it also minimizes my time there. Perhaps I could skip the blow dry too! Might be time for me to book a hair appointment...

I appreciate all the sharing, I'm glad I've been able to see some faces to go with names. I don't have a hair story though, I keep my short.

No offense from me. Enjoy your youth, you'll miss those knees when you get older. Or in my case, hips.

No offense taken here. I'll be 38 next week and I can tell you, I like getting older. I don't want to go back to 20's or early 30's. I rather just keep moving on.
