If you have scheduled appointments booked, do you confirm with T a few days beforehand?

Does your T have a receptionist or do you confirm directly with T?

If T or office doesn't respond to your text, email ,or phone call to confirm do you feel anxious?

My t's office typically makes calls 2 days before one's appointment to confirm. I am only anxious about appointments when I am on the cancellation list and am waiting for an opening to arise. Then I almost wait by the phone.

My T is in private practice, so I just schedule with her after each session. She doesn't confirm, but I can email or call if I need to discuss scheduling.

No, and so 2nd and 3rd questions don't not apply. My Ts did not have receptionists. I simply assume that if we schedule a meeting, and if something gets in the way for someone, we'll notify each-other and there is no need for reminder. I don't feel anxious at all.

My psychiatrist/therapist's assistant calls me 2-3 days before my appointment with a reminder. Calls go to the assistant and emails go to my psychiatrist, but I try not to bother her outside of our weekly appointments.

If there's no immediate response to a call or email, I don't feel anxious. There's no reason to. My psychiatrist and her assistant are professionals, and they are responsible for getting back to me in a timely manner. My psychiatrist also has a separate number for emergencies.

One t's office confirms every appointment by text the day before the appointment. The other never confirms. But I would be anxious if I made contact asking for confirmation and didn't get a response. My pdoc randomly confirms and usually doesn't respond to phone calls, but I know that is just his way of doing things so it doesn't stress me out.

Do you have a regular scheduled time?

My T does everything herself. Even when my appts were all over the place, she never called to confirm. She would write them down on a business card when I asked but that's was it. It doesn't bother me at all.

I email the day of to confirm. My T's office has an admin and she knows I confirm every appt. They'd probably get worried if I didn't.
I've never had a no response situation, but I'd be nervous if they didn't reply.

Group T sends a text confirming the day before. T confirms our next session at the end of the current session.

None of my long term Ts had a receptionist or any other staff to check in with. My previous two Ts, we just scheduled and I remembered the next appointment myself. One of them, for awhile, I typically saw the same day and time each week unless either of us had a schedule conflict, so that was extra easy to remember.

My current T's office system sends out automated email reminders 2 days ahead of time. If we schedule less than 48 hours from the session, then the system doesn't send a reminder. As far as anxiety, I don;t really have any with scheduling, but I do reach out to her via email (VM and text with previous Ts) and do feel anxious waiting for replies, but not as much as I used to. I'm learning to accept that it's not something personal if she doesn't get back to me right away. She checks her messages when she can and responds when she can. I know my last T had a time when she left her (work) phone somewhere and did not have it for a few days, and another time she was some days in an area with poor reception. Stuff happens, but I know she will get to me when she can. It can still make me uneasy if I'm anticipating a response, so I try to keep busy.
Thanks for this!

I have a standing appointment now, but when I was new and we had a variable schedule, there were no confirmations. They did write the date and time of my next appointment on my receipt at the end of each appointment.

My psychiatrist does not confirm appointments. I kind of wish they did, since they are scheduled months in advance.

I am guessing you don't mean for people who have the same time every week? If so...ignore my commentary.

With my current and last T, it was a standing appointment, so as I would leave they are like "See ya next week..."

I did see an EMDR-T where we scheduled appointments, and she never confirmed ahead of time. I just had to remember and go. It did usually leave me a bit anxious that somehow I would confuse it and mess it up, but I also did that with my last T with weekly appointments.

My t and I both pull out our datebooks and make the next appointment at the end of each session. One of us repeats the date to make sure we both have it right. That's good enough confirmation for me.

As I'm in a hospital outpatient clinic, T usually keys in my next appointment at the end of the current session. Then the receptionist checks the system and writes it down on my hospital appointment card.

Or T tells me when our next appointment is, then I go out and tell the receptionist who keys in my appointment and writes on the card.

One week before the appointment, I get an automated text message from the hospital where they instruct me to reply using numbers. I can choose to confirm my appointment, cancel or reschedule.

T doesn't do standing appointments so everything is a "first come, first served" basis for slots each therapy session. Thanks to her larger caseload, I can only see T once a month instead of once a fortnight.

My therapist (and pdoc) both have a receptionist who calls to confirm appointments the day before.

Both of mine work in the same clinic and they have one of those fancy automated systems that calls me and makes sure I can still make it. Actually all my doctors have a phone or text system that alerts me. My dentist's system even texts me 2 hours before my appointment so I don't forget to leave work. I wish pdoc's office would switch to the text system. Much more convenient. I don't see T anymore so that's not an issue. My nerves center around what I might forget to discuss while I'm there rather than the actual appointment.

The office always calls me a day in advance to confirm. If I have an appointment late in the day I call to find out how late he is running.

No. I have a regular day and time. There is no need of it for me. Plus I choose only those who have no receptionist or staff.

My T always gives me a card with the appt time. Same with my pdoc. Neither of them call me to confirm, as there's an automated messaging service that calls me 3 days in advance to let me know I have an upcoming appt. I also get email confirmation right away. (They both work in the same office.)

Though I totally freaked out yesterday and this morning. I had left a voicemail for my T on Friday to cancel my T appt for this morning due to all the snow that I'd have to get out of my driveway. T cancelled it but never let me know about it, so I frantically called the office yesterday morning asking if she had cancelled it or not. (Turns out she did, thankfully.) There's no messaging service that lets me know if the appt has successfully been cancelled or not.

Then when I tried to call back the office at 1pm to ask about my upcoming pdoc appt that I tried to reschedule (since i realized i NEVER got any notification), the office was closed! (Stupid blizzard.) So I frantically called up my office this morning to ask if I still had my pdoc appt. Turns out I do, and it's at 3:20 because I rescheduled it from 8am to 3:20pm.

The has private practice so no staff. I have a standing appointment. She has never confirmed appointments. The only time I have contacted her to confirm is if there has been a temporary change so I want to make sure. Quite frequently the client before me cancels. In which case she will email me and let me know so I can go early if I am able.

My old T was private practice. He had a receptionist I would email or call a few days in advance to confirm. I never had a standing appointment in a certain day of the week. T had three different receptionists over the time I saw him. Eventually he had none. Sometimes I would call or email to confirm and no response. I assume if he couldn't make it or had to reschedule he would contact me. One time he was a no show. I don't see him anymore due to creepy vibes over time.

My T handles everything herself. She doesn't confirm appointments with me and I don't confirm them with her. If I wanted to do that, I suppose I could by calling or emailing her. But I don't. It's just not something I would ever do. I have a standing appointment so there really is no need to confirm it. I understand, though, that confirming could be helpful for other T's and clients and that's great if it works.

I usually don't confirm unless there had been some confusion or I'm verifying. Today I did text to confirm due to the roads and she said that we will keep in touch as to whether we could make it or not. I never heard from her. I had to reach out again to let her know that the roads were plowed and that I made it out. If I didn't contact her I would've never known if she made it or not.

I have a standing appointment so no need for confirmation, but if I hadn't, I would not see a T who contacted me to confirm each appointment. It would be a confidentiality risk which for me personally would not be acceptable.
