Hey all! So I see my therapist at a clinic at my university. I also work on-campus, which my T knows. Yesterday I mentioned that I was really tired and so I took a nap at work. T said, "I've heard [name of my workplace] is a good place to sleep!"
So (to me) it sounds like at least one of her other clients works at the same place as me. I work with about 100 people, so I'm not sure who it is, but now I do know that someone I work with has the same therapist as me.
Do y'all think this is a big deal? Should I worry that my T might reveal things about me to other clients? Or is it not a big deal?

I don't think it's a big deal. Your t may very well have a friend or family member that works at that place, or, used to work at that place. Maybe she heard that from a friend of a friend of a friend. Maybe she overheard a couple of students talking about how they sleep at work at this place during a lunch. Really, there is no telling. Unless she specifically said it's a client of hers that works there, I wouldn't even assume it was a client.
Thanks for this!

Not a big deal. Is it also possible it is a location students might be at? That would make it even less of a big deal.

She could have heard it from a student/client three years ago, someone who's no longer there. I don't think it's a big deal.

Thanks everyone, I think I am being silly you're right, there's no way to assume it was a client and even if it is a current client of hers, she said nothing to let me know who it is. Sorry, I guess I just got a little paranoid about her telling others about me!

No need to apologize!!! You used reality testing, a good coping skill.

No need to apologize. I actually thought your post was cute. It's nice to see that kind of openness in posts around here! A bit of silliness might do us some good...

This sounds like the therapist was trying to inject some humour into the session. No big deal at all. I think you are trying to read something into this that may not even exist. If it does exist, does it really even matter?
Thanks for this!

These are things to think about and maybe work through.

How do you feel about being teased?
How do you feel about your work?
How do you feel about sharing your T with other people?
Do you feel there are some parts of your life that are off limits?

Etc.

Therapy throws up deliberate challenges but also accidental triggers. Anything that produces an emotional reaction in the patient is worth following up.
