I have an appointment scheduled with a new T on June 5. I'm so scared to attempt therapy again.

What is the fear about specifically, do you know? Can you do anything, or write anything out in advance, to try to help with that?

Good for you for trying again, it is hard especially when you've had such a traumatic experience. Maybe you can talk with this new T about what steps you can take with them to avoid the kinds of problems you've had in the past?

I hope you feel comfortable with the new T, good luck.

I agree to sit down before and write out what concerns and fears you have about starting. You could simply say "I brought some things in I'm concerned about, could you read this before we start?" This would be a great ice breaker.

Also Hope, there is an app called "moodtracker". You might check it out. I use this and print it out before each session. It really helps get the ball rolling. My T reads over all of it (take like three minutes) and we go from there.

Good luck Hope! And well done you for keeping moving forward.

I think it will be a good idea to be as open and honest as possible, with the new R.

Please be honest with the new T right away about things that you feel you need in therapy.

If you need frequent out of session contact, weekly appts, email/text access, just talk to them about it right away. That way you can find out right away if this T is a good fit for you before feeling attached to them.

Have you thought about looking for a woman therapist this time so you don't get led astray. You might have a better experience. Glad you are continuing to work on yourself.

This is very important that your new therapist understands this. I agree that it might be good to see a woman this time.
