So... I have flashbacks all the time of bad events that have happened in my life. However, some of these events aren't necessarily all that bad. For example, I may think of a time I was driving and almost got smashed on the side by an idiot. Or even better, I may have done something embarrassing and I randomly get a flashback of that embarrassment, and then I "have" to avoid anything related to that embarrassment. For example, one time I slipped on a floor in a bagel shop and now I won't ever go back there. That's what I mean by avoiding anything related to that embarrassment.
I don't know what's wrong with me or what to say to my therapist. Has anyone dealt with flashbacks? What has your therapist advised? I get these flashbacks for a total of maybe 1-2 hours a day, 10-20 minutes at a time. I can't get rid of them |

Are they actually flashbacks or just memories that you are thinking a lot about in some detail? There is a difference.

Sounds like you're getting triggered and it's bringing up things that are seemingly unrelated but aren't. Do you have grounding / soothing techniques to help with this ?
