In a real emergency (got bad news), how long do you think it is reasonable to wait for your therapist to respond to a text before texting again? I texted her today at noon and nothing yet. Just wondering what you guys would do and expect. Thanks.

Unless it's an immediate crisis, I would expect by the end of their work day when they have time to respond more fully.
Thanks for this!

I would expect them to tell me to call 911 if there was an immediate emergency. Otherwise within 24 -48 hours.

My therapist replies at the end of the day usually, but he says I should feel free to text or call him again if it's urgent. He works late so he sometimes rings after 9 pm.

I would also wait 1-2 days or seek help elsewhere. My therapists were often very fast responding even though my messages were not really about any emergency, but it was not something I expected or demanded.

If it's an ongoing emergency that requires immediate action or fast decision, I would probably call a service more designated to deal with it, like 911, go to the ER, or maybe a friend or relative that I trust with the problem.
Thanks for this!
