When I first began seeing him, he said that hugs were okay. Now he told me that it was an office policy against it and also that he wasn't much of a hugger. He did end it with a friendly "talk soon!"

I'm sorry he wasn't honest about it initially, then you could have decided whether or not you wanted to see a non-hugging therapist, instead of now that you have a bond. It's not fair to you.

It is definitely not fair. He seemed enthusiastic when I asked him before I started seeing him. So he wasn't honest with me up front.

I don't even know why I feel so hurt over this. I'm not that close with him so I don't know why it bothers me. Enough to want to quit with him.
But I don't know what to say. |

Do you think it' also possible that he was truthful in the beginning and changed his strategy later? Just saying this because based on many posts on this forum, it seems like Ts change how they interact with clients quite often, without asking first.

Maybe he didn't know office policy...or got some feedback from a colleuge and decided not to. He could have explained it better. He should have been honest about it, though. If he changed his mind, he could have admitted it.
