Does what your t wears affect you in any way?

I dont care about clothes at all but find myself strangely affected.

Liking his blue shirt a lot or the yellow stripped top that gives me a more personal feel and makes me feel strangely connected to him
Thanks for this!

As long as my T is decently covered in clothing that is in good condition and appropriate for the setting I don't care what she wears. I am not there to think about her. I am there to work on my own stuff.

Actually how a t affects a client whether its clothing, words, actions has everything to do with the client.
Thanks for this!

I notice her outfits, but it doesn’t effect me in any way. I might admire her outfit, or I might think something is a nice color, etc. That’s about the extent of it.

I also notice what he wears, and sometimes I wonder about it. He dresses much nicer some days than others, and I wonder why. He wore sweaters a lot in the summer, and I wondered about that too. One time he wore a jacket I really liked.

But it doesn't really affect me much. I don't feel more or less connected to him
depending on what he wears.

I wonder why your therapist's clothes affect you in that way. Perhaps certain shirts stir up unconscious memories?

Damn it feels weird to admit this 'out loud', but I love R's perfume. I don't know what it is, and I daren't ask...but it is a really lovely scent.

I agree with you 100%. Your question was (roughly, I can't remember exactly how you asked it) "are you affected by what your t wears". I - a client - answered no, I am not. You - a different client - answered yes, you are.
How each client is affected by their t has everything to do with the client.

I notice. R dresses "properly". Semi formal- pants never jeans. Jumpers with shirts or just minus the jumper and a plain shirt. I have to dress properly when I'm on wards, but I turn up in T-shirts with cartoon cats and comic book heroes. My thinking is that he's at work, if he wore band, or football shirts I know I wouldn't take him seriously.

My T has a button up dress shirt that’s very similar to one my dad would wear growing up. It always freaks me out a little, especially since T and my Dad have a big age difference. My therapist wears dress clothes, dress shirts and slacks, or sweaters and khakis. He always looks nice, but the clothes don’t otherwise affect me.

T always dresses professionally. Not fancy, no bright colors that I've encountered, just mainly earth tones. I prefer earth tones over bright colors as it seems more calming or welcoming to me. She does have one dress that is black and white diagonal stripes that bothers my eyes. The dress itself is fine, I just can't look at certain lines or stripes sometimes. They move around on me and it bothers my eyes. I avoid looking at her when she wears it.

I'm not a clothes person at all, but I pretty much always notice what my T is wearing. I can't decide whether she has a gigantic closet or if she's just really good at mixing and matching the same things, but she very rarely wears the same outfit twice. She has started very occasionally wearing nice jeans and a dressy top, which apparently was not allowed at her last workplace (weird that therapists there could be entrusted with people's deepest, darkest secrets but apparently management did not think they had the judgment to dress themselves appropriately!).

I don't know if my T's wardrobe affects me. I think I would feel uncomfortable if she wasn't neatly dressed, but I don't know if how she dresses changes how I feel.

I also agree with LostOnTheTrail that my T's perfume smells good, and I am reminded of her when I randomly smell it on someone out in the world.
Thanks for this!

I did not notice what the woman wore. I couldn't tell you what I wore yesterday. Clothes are not something I notice on anyone most of the time.
I can't imagine being near enough to a therapist to know what cologne she wears.

He is always casual but its weird, this one shirt he wears, each time he has had it on with me, the session was crap, he seemed to be checked out, so now if I see it, I get nervous.

Otherwise nope. Doesn't bother me or excite me with what he wears. as long as he has clothes on I'm good lol

My T always wears the same thing. A black pantsuit with a bright blouse. I can't blame her. It looks professional and is easy to put on. I do the same thing with my work clothes!

The only reason I notice my T's clothes is because I think they are hideous. lol. To be fair she probably thinks mine are too. We have very different tastes.

My T has this one pair of trousers that he wore right through a rupture this summer. I swear they're cursed. He made me cry 3 weeks ago while wearing those trousers so I told him never to wear them again. Which we both found funny.
Thanks for this!

T and I actually had a conversation about her clothing last time I saw her. When I started seeing her about 10 years ago she wore heals and dresses everyday (regardless of weather). The were ypur classic straight not fashionable at all dressed and mostly black. Then she was unable to wear heal and had to wear special orthodic shoes so she started eating pants with a blouse. Most very plan and very little colors. But the last couple of months she went back to dressrd. I know she has some medical conditions that they are getting better control of so I,suspect that is part of why she switched back. I prefer the dressier because the clothes fit her better and seems to indicate she is peppier.

I always notice what my therapist is wearing. When on the rare occasions she has worn something that doesn't fit with her normal style it it always pleasantly disconcerting.

My T always wears the same thing. Blue t-shirt, darker but still blue pants, blue nike shoes. Last winter he also wore a blue hoodie, and yellow hiking boots.

I think it's funny that he seems to either only like blue, or put a whole lot of thought into what he wears... I don't mind, but I'd also not mind seeing him wear different stuff, I wouldn't care much, as long as it's professional.

I kinda like how she dresses now the temos have dropped. It makes her look warmer and fuzzier than her summer outfits. Colors have changed from brighter to darker, too.

My therapist/pdoc always wore dress slacks, a shirt, and tie. I was really surprised when I interviewed new therapists and pdocs how casually they were dressed. Khakis and polo shirts. I have the strangest idea that my new psychiatrist wears doctors' coats, but though I've seen him 4 or 5 times I really am not sure. He sits across his desk and the client's chair is back from it, so I haven't noticed for sure what he does wear.

I am a pretty unobservant person, so I rarely notice what anyone is wearing unless it's really ugly or inappropriate. Longtime T always wore pants and a long sleeved shirt, no dresses or skirts. Neutral colors. Current T... well, I've hardly looked at her yet, so I'm not sure. I do know she wore some nice knee-high leather boots last time I saw her. No idea what else she was wearing. Pdoc... wears pants and collared shirt. No dresses. She may have worn a skirt once, but I can't really remember.
