For about two months before christmas I´ve seen a psychiatric nurse once a week and we then had a Christmas break and now we saw each other again. We had a regular session and at the end I asked her about an appointment next week.

Then she just tells me that we can´t see each other more than every other week! She´s within public health care and they have to prioritize between patients and obviously I got a lower priority from now on.

I got really disappointed in the situation and also because she didn´t say anything about it during the whole meeting but at the end when the session was over and I asked her for another meeting.

She meant "it´s better to get sessions every other week than no sessions at all" which is of course true but then she forgets all about what counselling is based on; trust, engaging the patient in the deciding process and so on.

I can´t and don´t want to switch to another care provider as my sick leave is based on seeing this nurse and showing I engage in some kind of counselling. I can of course tell her how I feel but that won´t help as they don´t care about how you feel or what you think.

I don´t see that many solutions but I want some support on this.

I would find that very upsetting also.

As you say, you don't really have any choices, either. Which makes it just that worse.

I hope you can find some way to get the support you need.
Thanks for this!

That’s what happened to my team I went from one team to the next team and on and on to I am with this one psych nurse that I see every two weeks which I saw her yesterday after her being sick for two weeks. And apparently the manager said she would just call me well she didn’t I had to call her several times over and over again.

Until it seemed I got the message “what do you want?”
It’s very clear to me that I was bothering her.

So she wanted to know everything on Thursday!

I'm so sorry, SarahSweden. It's crazy to me that she didn't bring it up with you at all, and that you found out the way that you did. I'd be very upset with that. Did she say anything at all about why she didn't tell you? As you pointed out, it seems like she has no idea about how important trust and the framework are for counseling...

I'm sorry you're going through this...
Thanks for this!

Thanks. That sounds similar to our mental health care system and it feels very ignorant to just "forget" about patients, to not call them when they said they would and so on. How come you see your nurse just every other week? Is it due to resources or for other reasons?

Thanks. No, I think she didn´t tell me because they don´t follow the rules and recommendations about offering good care to the patient. They should decide together with the patient about the frequency and other things and as she knows it´s not even a question to discuss the didn´t bring it up.

But to me it feels they ignore me and don´t take my issues seriously and I´ll ask her for some kind of treatment plan the next time as they´ve also promised me to try refering me to real psychotherapy for a long time now. But this is a huge worry to me I don´t know how to handle.
