Once I got myself sufficiently caffeinated yesterday, I stress-cleaned the bathrooms and the kitchen and a couple closets. I even got out the steamer thingie to clean the cracks and crannies. Then I ran errands.

Today, I wanted to dig up the garden and plant peas, but it rained. So I did more errands and tackled the storage half of the basement. I am sweaty and dusty and gross, and there were dried-up spiders, and I’ve got boxes of stuff to take to Goodwill. Usually, I’d feel a sense of accomplishment but I just feel blah.

BCM, after reading your post I am craving cheese toast. There’s something super comforting about cheese toast.

Yikes about the dried-up spiders! I did some cleaning today myself, which is very unlike me. Just one part of living room, but H seemed pleased I'm learning I need to break cleaning and things into smaller pieces, like, "I will declutter and clean this corner today" not "I'm going to clean the entire living room!" Because smaller goals are more attainable...

I'm just confused as to why they opted to show no Olympics on any of the NBC stations during the day today...(well, at least according to their online schedule). Sunday is a good day for people to watch sports (see: football), so, why just hold everything until prime time? Just figured I'd be able to watch stuff today while I was cleaning, but nope! (Yeah, I could have streamed I guess, but...) And I'm talking just anything, like biathlon, speed skating trials, curling, whatever!

I like the idea of the biathlon, but it is not gripping to watch.

I'm watching an episode of Law and Order where someone threw a molotov cocktail into someone's living room. I don't understand how my house didn't burn to the ground that night. The fire he set was not insignificant. I'm feeling very triggered right now.

The olympics totally have me pulled in... and at least I have something to watch while my anxiety is keeping me awake at night.

the olympics were on in the day today, at least when i watched from 12-4:00ish.

i love all the olympics, except maybe curling.

i won a $100 gift card at a work raffle today!! i NEVER win anything! they did a bunch of raffle tickets throughout this meeting for $25: starbucks, movie card...etc. THen at the very end of the meeting they said they had a final one for a $100 visa card and i was barely paying attention because i never win anything...AND IT WAS MY NUMBER!

I sort of shouted OH, IT IS ME! and ran up to get it. lol.

this is the best thing to happen to me in over a year. sad, i know.

Hi couchies I missed reading about your exploits. I was on vacation with my mom and she came down with pneumonia. We made it back home and she wisely agreed to go to the hospital. Six days later, she came home with oxygen, it was a big deal. I was able to put my first week of classes online and stay with her longer. She's doing fine now thank goodness. They did find a mass in the pleural space near her heart which I'm anxious to get biopsied but Mom is in no hurry.

Oh and my computer died yesterday. I guess it was time for a new one, it was from 2012.

My therapist wanted me to cut back to once every other week but I didn't want to. She said she felt like I was putting up walls all the time and maybe I'd come as far as I wanted to in therapy. That upset me because I didn't feel any walls and because she said she'd been feeling that way for a while now, like months. Why not bring it up to me? Why assume I'm checking out? We worked through it but I feel pressured to have something important to talk about each week or she'll ask me again to cut back.

Hope everyone is doing well. Good night!

Glad to hear from you, Mobius Psyche. I hope your mother has a swift recovery. I hope your T and you can discuss rather than her unilaterally deciding. As you mentioned, why hasn't she brought this up since it's been months?

It spills over into my attitude to my job, but that's not the cause. (I deserve more money but I'm not short of cash.) My mood is influenced by weather more than any other factor.

Citalopram.

I really hate November to March. It's my birthday month, Christmas, crunch time at work, and Lunar New Year (I'm Chinese, raised fundamentalist Christian plus traditional Chinese...great combo lol.) All "small trauma" anniversaries of beatings and stuff like that.

Dear lord. The Social Psychology extra credit assignment is to write engaging discussion questions for each of the six weeks of the course, plus a few others on random topics.

Just sheer laziness on the professor's part.
Thanks for this!

It sounds like the professor wants the students to do his/her work for them for the next class they instruct.

I am even more grateful now that the extra credit for my class is to pick any topic of interest from Positive Psych and write a research paper about it with at least 3 academic journal references.

eta: that's what I was thinking, Jersey!

Precisely.

I don't even need the extra credit, so I refuse to do her work for her.

I would hate this assignment too--it benefits the students who are already good at writing papers, i.e., the ones who don't need extra credit. It's the easiest thing in the world to say "write another paper." Extra credit shouldn't be about regurgitation of information yet again, but something out of the ordinary for the course--not tests, not papers, not translations--that allows application of things learned in the course, and any student can do well at. Like I give my myth classes scavenger hunts for mythology-related items around campus, or my medical terminology classes are presented with new diseases or symptoms and asked to name them based on their newfound knowledge of Greek and Latin roots.

But I'm obviously in the minority among academics on this.

Okay, so I'm entering test questions on Blackboard for a reading comprehension homework assignment.

What I meant to type: Plants thrive on a moderate amount of water.

What I actually typed: Plants thrive on a moderate amount of murder.

Now I want to do a scavenger hunt for no credit!

My city's parks department used to have an incredibly complicated scavenger hunt every summer. One of those things where you eventually stop to wonder about the intricacies of the mind of whoever came up with the puzzles. It was super fun to explore the parks all summer trying to solve it. I wish they would start doing it again, but I think the creator moved away.

It depends on how whiny the student body is. Start a movement?
