So I have only had two sessions with new T and I've already had a dream about him .

In the dream I arrived at my session and T seemed very flustered. He told me he just found out that the building where he practices is closing and everyone who has offices there has to leave. He was quite upset about it and didn't have a plan for what he was going to do next. Strangely, I wasn't that bothered by it and it seemed like I was almost expecting something like that to happen.

The other notable thing about the dream was that the chairs in the room were all rearranged in a weird way and there may have been an extra chair. The chair that T sat in made it impossible for me to choose a seat that was directly facing him. I sat in a chair that was kind of next to him but got up and changed seats mid conversation because of the strange position.

I'm pretty sure that the first part I described is to do with the fact that all my previous Ts have left me for one reason or another and I worry that is going to happen again. I don't know what the chairs mean though .

So interesting! When you don't know what something in a dream means, free associate. Basically just think about what it could mean. Allow your thoughts to flow freely, don't try to steer it or censor it. Sometimes it helps to just write it down. Just write whatever comes to mind without editing. Eventually the meaning should become clear.
Thanks for this!

Thanks, I will try that. I will also ask T about when I see him next week.
Thanks for this!

The way my t and I work with dreams is the Gestalt way- meaning you are every person in the dream. If you were to think about it like that, that you were your t what does new t represent for you- the way you couldn’t face him, what can’t you face in yourself? Also you are closing down, you are the office too. The dream suggests to me and I could be 100 % wrong that you are being cautious with him. Maybe not trusting yourself to open up to him or trusting that part of yourself that represents him.
Thanks for this!

Yes, I definitely think I am being cautious this time. I became very attached quite quickly with l my last T and I was convinced she was perfect and would never disappoint me. Obviously that wasn’t true because she’s human but I want to avoid that kind of dynamic this time.

Is that why you chose a male t this time? Sounds like being cautious here is a good thing to protect yourself from being hurt but maybe its protecting you so much that he can’t get in at all.
Thanks for this!

Yeah, that’s the main reason for choosing a male. It will be interesting to discuss this with him next week.
