I mean that in a good way. I saw T last night and he said he wants to try something new with me. We were talking about the Pink cd he listened too that I gave him last week.
I asked how painful it was and he said "I was you for awhile and found myself going back to age 18 or less"...we were joking around a bit. Then he said how wonderful a singer she is and all that...but then he used the term Existential Angst... You all don't really know me but words that I have never heard of can be quite scary for me. Especially if I can't spell it or even said it. I am talking about the Existentialism part...I had him repeat it a few times and he was pretty patient with me. He wants me to read about Simone De Beauviore...and some sartre guy...giggle. Has anyone here gone and explored in this area?

I have read Sartre but right now I am so braindead. I have studied some existential psychology while in school. I would like to give you a better response tomorrow, but I just wanted to let you know I read your post and I think it is so awesome that your T said he was you for awhile. Nice connection there. My T actually teases me about reading Sartre's "Nausea" during my depressions-- he says, "Please tell me you're not reading that now!!"

Read Dorothy Sayers, she's much more entertaining and easier to understand; this is my favorite book/essay of hers, a little similar to de Beauvoir's The Second Sex; same era at least.

When I was a teenager, I read a lot of existential stuff, like Sartre, Camus, etc. It really resonated with me then, for some reason. Enjoy your reading!

'The Stranger' by Camus is one of my all-time favorite books-- check it out!

Yes, The Stranger is great but kind of depressing :-) All of Hermann Hesse's books are good too in that line, don't you think Pink?

I found some translations of The Second Sex by Simone...I love the opening line already:
FOR a long time I have hesitated to write a book on women. The subject is irritating, especially to women; and it is not new That is so me! I will check out that book too Pink thanks!
