I saw it and felt that it invalidated the seriousness and truth of what therapy is about. Some people who haven't had therapy themselves, or don't know anything about it, already can be very judgemental toward people who ARE in therapy. This can give them more energy/opportunity to make fun of us.

I love Lena Waithe. Fun commercial, a little long, but I liked the riff.

I appreciate your point. It might feel belittling to some. I do also think that sometimes making a subject that has historically been a bit taboo -- being in therapy -- into something light-hearted can normalize it and make people less afraid of it. I hope that it does have that effect.

I always think of the practical stuff: why is the waiting room full? Shouldn’t they have designated time slots?
If she’s a shoe dr - why does she seem annoyed/baffled by their problems....??
What kind of person just walks into a closed room?

I say this all in jest, of course. But these are the things I think of...

I can see why this setting troubled some people here and I totally agree with that - the commercial mocks therapy and people who go to therapy and helps increase the stereotyped view people have on this subject. On the other side, I REALLY wish I could show this to my T, since she told me she runs on her free time. But I don't think that would be appropriate... anyone care to comment on that?
Thanks for this!

Hilarious. Don't know if it's funnier from the perspective of the shoes or therapy. Thanks for posting.

The full waiting room was bothering me too! But i chalked it up to creative license. "Okay, what ELSE about a waiting room?"

That was fun to watch. Thanks, Butterfly, I probably wouldn’t have seen that otherwise.

I am so going to show my T in about 1 hour. Why do you feel it isn't appropriate?

tbh - I found it funny. Thanks for sharing. I could really see something like that with some athletes and the rituals they have.

Well, tbh it is only because English is not her (our) first language. I know she may be able to understand most of it, but I don't want to do this as though I'm showing off my 'skills' in a foreign language
Thanks for this!

I thought it was funny and the waiting room did not bother me - they were just playing. It is not a serious thing to get concerned about the details or what they got wrong about therapy - it is just light-hearted and playing - in my opinion.

Thanks for posting, very funny. I really like this t. I would go see her, she is very cool Shoe Therapy- Humor
I think it’s good to have a sense of humour around therapy sometimes because it is so taboo and can be so serious.
Thanks for this!
