Just curious how long have you been with your therapist? Or what is the longest you have been with a therapist? I was going to post a poll but I don't know how.

Ther only other t I have seen was in the early 90s. I saw her for a few months.

I’ve been seeing my T for almost two years now. That’s also the longest I’ve seen anyone for.

I’ve been with this one for 14 months, but I saw him about ten years ago for about eight months. The longest I’ve stayed with the same T was five or six years.

1st two were about 2 years each, spaced about a decade apart (early 20's, early 30's)
Last was 10 years (pretty much my entire 40's).
I've been out of therapy for 5 years.

I've been with my current T for 14 months. Was with ex-T for 6 years (in retrospect, probably should have switched sooner than that, as I feel I hit a plateau and have been making much more progress with current T).

ETA: Marriage counselor about 4 years (with a couple breaks in there), and part of the long time seeing him was due to my attachment/transference.

Wow a long time for most of us...I've been with mine nearly 4 years. I thought a couple of sessions and I'd be done...How wrong I was.

I first saw my T about seven years ago. We did about a year of sessions (every other week) and then a few check-ins/tune-ups per year for a few years after that. I started seeing her again in private practice about two and a half years ago (mostly at twice a week), and that has been far more intense and productive than anything we worked on together before.

I've been seeing my current therapist for about 2 years. My longest stint in therapy was a therapist I saw for about 4, maybe 5 years.
