I called the office to ask about my appointment tomorrow and she said that I wasn’t on the schedule tomorrow. She said my next appointment was the 12th. The last time I left the other secretary told me it was December 5th. Maybe my doctor doesn’t want to see me.

Sorry to hear about the mix-up, Hope. It seems unlikely that your doc wouldn't want to see you. We're here for support between now and the 12th.

I'm sorry to hear about your appointment. I'm sure it was just a mistake and not because your doctor doesn't want to see you. Usually the doctors aren't even all that involved in the scheduling. There's usually a front office staff that deals with that so far as I understand it and what my experience has been. Keep writing here in the meantime so we can help you get through until the 12th. Kit.

Direct communication is one of the #1 qualifications for a psychiatrist. I think you can safely rule out passive aggressive communication. Mistake.

Unless he personally does his scheduling, highly doubtful he even knows who’s on his schedule until the day of appointments. Just a schedule error. It happens.
Thanks for this!

I will really need support between now and the 12th.

I am disappointed about the appointment because we were going to officially begin therapy.

He’s only done my med management until now. Last time, we had a discussion about doing therapy together.

He’s read my emails. He said that with my high levels of distress right now, that he wouldn’t recommend canceling appointments.

Could you email him about the cancellation? Is it possible that the receptionist was wrong, and he has your session on his calendar? Like did he mention it in any email replies?

When this has happened to me I have started asking them to give me an appointment reminder card. That way I have written proof that shows when they made the appointment. It helps me know for sure and also makes sure I can show them if they make a mistake.
