Thanks. It's sure not distracting me from my crappy attitude. I can't seem to pull myself out of it!

Haha!! You made me laugh thank you!! I needed that.

(I posted that pic cuz my attitude this week has resembled that of hers in the pic except I can't hide in a little cave like I wish I could.)

I'm sorry you're going through a tough time right now artie. Can you make a cave in bed with blankets? Are you a fan of hot baths and candles?

I don't have cake but *passes a slice of french silk pie over to Lemoncake

A lovely idea. I will make and hide in a blanket fort after I get off work today... and bring my tablet in there with me and read a good young adult fiction book to sooth 15 as it's her who's acting up.

There is really no excuse for that.
I've very proud of your hard work. Please go on a university tour and tell them how to do it properly.

My dad has also given Belle the same surname! It must be a cat thing.

(I follow one of the older daughters Khole they had more than one tree and it was so pretty with all the presents. )

What is this strange thing I see before me (google images). I think you would have an unwanted house guest if you feed me everyday like this!

I'm kinda doing similar. I was watching Mrs doubt fire in bed, which has been replaced by quantum of solace on itv3 I think. Acting up/out is just a way of dealing with difficult feelings.

Yes.... my son so enjoying his independence, instead of me being happy for him, my mind is flooded with all the mistakes I made raising him and leaving me feeling like he left because oof me. Mostly cuz he didn't come over yesterday for Christmas I guess. I act like an ignorant jerk cuz that's easier than feeling rejected by him.

Thanks, Lemon. I'm currently lamenting the fact that there don't seem to be any mild throat pastilles. I can't tolerate strong flavours, and so I can't usually consume an entire lozenge.

It will take time to adjust to him not being there and im sure every other parent who has had a child move out feels the same. It's bitter sweet and the start and end of something at the same time. But the way you feel right now is real and valid. He's your son and he will always be your baby. It's okay to miss him and not be 100% happy for him all the time. Personally if I'm being honest I would be hurt by the late cancellation too. But I don't think it's a reflection of the way you raised him. I'm a bit older than him,but in reality most kids are relatively a bit selfish. It's only now after living in my own for a few years and having to deal with basic mundane things like cooking and shoppping that I actually take care of the washing and hoovering without being asked.

I don't have a child yet but I don't believe any parent is ever perfect. You just have to be good enough. I watched this old video with little monkeys who were being terrified by a loud noise I think, when left alone in a room they ran straight to the (fake) mother first. Similarly I think that's the hallmark of a good parent- just creating the safe place for the child in the first place to use as a reference point to later allow them to explore the room like the monkey ( )

I remember the conversation you had with your son a while back when he wanted to book the hotel room- I never would have even talked about that, even now. I think that says a lot about your relationship and his ability to trust you. Just keep being you Artie. Instead of trying not to miss him, perhaps it would be a good idea to dig out all the old photos and cards and letters he's written to you?

Perhaps you could try the Swiss herbal sweets made by Ricola? They come in a wide range of flavours. Or the stores own brand version. Do you have cherry drops?

You are so wise, Lemoncake.

And I am too impatient with myself.

I also have enough self-knowledge to know and recognize my own M.O. - I am likely attempting to create a reason (in my mind) to call L. Even though I know she said if I did go back it wouldn't be therapy anymore. She said something about life coaching or something. But I'm not going to call I will find my way through this cuz it's normal and not a bad thing I'm just a baby.

Woooo- I think all that daytime TV is paying off!!!!

But aww thanks Artie. I've never been called that before. I'm good with being rational with others posters, but rereading the posts I first made about R are very cringey.

I don't think you're being a baby, even though all of this may be normal. My favourite quote from the book the Catcher in the rye at the end "how do you know what you're going to do till you do it?"

Could you write out a letter to L and have her "reply" back to you too?

I found some in my brothers' room on the shelf today, hence the recommendation which I ate without checking the expiration date. I haven't seen the ads though.

I'm watching big fat quiz of the year, purely because the comedian David Mitchell is on it and he reminds me of a younger version of my T.
