So I had a second memory. I say that as far as repressed memories I know are true because they werent forced and my therapist didnt suggest them. Anyway it happened New Years Eve at about 2:30 in the morning. I was still awake.
Very triggering********* I had this flash of a person in a chair and another person on some sort of table or counter. The one person in the chair put their fingers in the one on the tables vagina. It wasnt like a gynecological exam. I couldnt make the people out but it was very distressing. End trigger Me and my T did some EMDR about it and I have a couple of questions. When we worked down the scale of trying to lessen the memories intensity I got from it being extremely disturbing to not disturbing at all really quick. My T said she thinks that its because it happened pre verbally or I subconciously dont want remember it. Does seem like a wild theory or does it make sense? Also for any others doing EMDR is it common afterwards to have a severely dry mouth? |

I don't think anyone can accurately define the time line of a particular memory when it surfaces outside of the specific context. So, I don't think anyone can say if it's pre verbal or not. But, one thing I can say for sure is that this is a very difficult flashback to deal with. Definitely disturbing. Sorry you have to deal with it..but you, probably, have to ..
I don't know anything about possible reactions to emdr. Never had it done on me and never conducted it for anyone.. |
