I finally learned to let go of checking up on the lying/not lying bit and just take care of what needs to be taken care of.

In your shoes, I'd just start the conversation with mil but make the conversation about the dog, not about "checking up" on your h. What you really need to know when it comes to taking the dog is whether she can do it or not.

Plus, it will likely be evident whether he's actually been discussing it with her, but that's a separate issue from whether or not she can take the dog.

I was right. He lied to me. I looked at his phone when he got home and he called urgent care after the second time talking to me; not the first. He says at least he did call, it doesn't matter when he called, and at least it was partial truth! I'm so tired of the lying. He doesn't think I should be mad at him.

I think that would be justified.

"Alastor, a black horse belonging to the Greek God Hades. He was one of the four horses drawing Hades's chariot when he rose from the Underworld to bring Persephone down with him. The other three were Orphnaeus, Aethon, and Nycteus."

So that's four named horses right there.

The chariot of Helios was pulled by horses, but I haven't been able to find their names.

But he lied to you on the phone when he said he'd called them! And I'm guessing when he actually did call, they didn't say to go to the ER. Or if they did, it's probably because he exaggerated his symptoms. I'm sorry you're dealing with all of this again.

With your MIL, do you have the sort of relationship where you might just text her about something? If so, I think it's OK to say something like, "Hey, I just wanted to check on the timing of when you may be able to take the dog." And then go by her response. Don't mention your H's possible lying. If she says something like, "What are you talking about?" then it's obvious he hasn't talked to her...

The person who asked was thinking of Achilles’ talking immortal chariot horses.

Glad my T confirmed he'd be in today, so I have an excuse to get out of the house. Going kinda stir-crazy (school closed for weather, so D and H both home--we were all home all day yesterday, too).

Do yourself a favor and turn the T appointment into an afternoon out for yourself-if you are going stir crazy. You’ll already be out, you may as well stay out for a bit.

I am thinking about trying a new therapist. God knows why. Who wants to confirm this is a bad idea?

I thought about that--H technically has a work call at 2 (around when I'd be getting back), but he said he just has to listen on it, not talk. So I imagine he could do that with D in the background. Maybe I'll check in with him after I leave session, see if he's OK with it.

Ah, I just checked with him and he said was fine. Yay!

I left a message at a counseling center midday Wednesday. Midday today will be three business days and no callback. What good is having insurance if the people in it won't act like decent human beings? This isn't the first counseling center I've had a problem with either.

I really wish the Romans had not called the basic unit of their currency an as. Because the plural doubles the s and ends in -es.

I hope your session goes well.

How long do the schools typically close for when there's thick snow?

I agree. Three days is enough time to get back to someone especially if it's a counselling center. Can you email too? Perhaps just call again .

Huh, I didn't think the cuss filter would let it through. Yup. The top property class (for election purposes) had a net worth of at least 100000 asses.

Thanks! It depends--we got about 9 inches (a bit more in other parts of the county), and it ended last night. I think they'll be open tomorrow, though maybe a bit late? But we had snowstorms a few years ago where it was closed for a few days (18 inches I think?), and a few years before that, I imagine they were closed for a week or so because we got a ton of snow (this was before my D was born, so wasn't paying attention to school schedules, just know how bad the roads were).

This, along with many other things about the Romans, produced all sorts of low brow amusement for us in my high school latin classes.
It was one of the raunchier classes taught by an extremely up-tight ex-priest.
Latin and Chaucer/Shakespeare were the perfect vehicles for nerdy high school dirty hilarity. Even better than Miller, Updike, or Roth - who, while they could be quite sexual - were not very much fun at all.
