Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.
Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely. This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means. It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends. We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience. Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread. Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy! Named this couch the Floral Couch in celebration of Spring. __________________ Dum Spiro Spero IC XC NIKA |

I'm going to be able to see my therapist this Saturday at 1. I will get to talk over with her extending out the no SH after Lent after all. I was on the cancellation list but I really didn't think that I would hear from the office, but I did. I normally don't do Saturday appointments as I would prefer to go after work and not in the middle of my day, but in this case, I jumped at the chance to see her and get to talk to her about extending out the time. I'm so glad this worked out. Now, I just hope it's a good appointment! HUGS Kit

Hey couchies! Another sucky day in Omerville but... T sent this and I thought several here might appreciate it even if it was not from their T...
“There are always reasons for the behavior that we demonstrate. Trauma has its twists and turns directing our lives in ways that one may not wish. We will keep exploring in a safe environment so you can have the freedom to be who you are.” He always has to wait until the DM is doing a surprise inspection at work to reply to email... then I sneak and read in... then I cry like a baby... *sigh* __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

Great news, Kit. I'm not sure of the time difference, but if I am around, I will pocket ride.

In another branch of existential enquiry, does anyone know the appropriate point at which to stop eating chocolate? My teeth hurt and yet I am still biting down. Seems like a clunky metaphor for my therapeutic mess.

L didn't like it when I'd say "only a dream".... but honestly as much as I love dream work I think sometimes they really are only dreams.... I dunno.... |

I must say, "And never the twain shall meet" was an absolutely perfect way to end the previous couch.

The tiny terror (aka my dog) has a way of verbally abusing people until they apologize. It's really embarrassing, but I'm also baffled why other people say sorry when he's the one having an unprovoked conniption of barking. It's so humiliating. Worse, his shrill cries of rage whip up other dogs who are usually very calm. If they are small, they join in and start barking. Large dogs attempt to hurl themselves at the "threat" to protect the little lamb. I am sitting a retriever/chow mix and a boxer who are very friendly dogs, but the way they act when my dog whips them up is insane.
His old bark collar worked pretty well, but it stopped detecting his barks. His new one detects his barks only after the initial volley and isn't very effective. He couldn't care less about the shock. I think I'll try a more expensive training collar next. Can't really afford it, but this issue causes me so much embarrassment on a daily basis. I hate to think about what a bad reputation he must have, and that his behavior is exactly why lots of people dislike chihuahuas (while ignoring all their excellent features). __________________ Life is hard. Been in a bad space for a while now and getting worse. Blew up at my sons school just to get blown off... I am not usually the dramatic type but there seems to be no end in sight. My son is getting worse and I just can’t get services. H just doesn’t get it. T is being amaizing and is praying we can get far enough along before I break... I don’t think we are going to make it.
Possible trigger:
I just cannot fathom 24/7 for three months and hubby gone most of the time with a kid that is holding me hostage, assulting me and giving me worse PTSD than my childhood history from hell ever managed to. I have no kitchen so I can’t eat right and am not eating often... which is exaggerating other health issues. H and my son have just broken me down so far I can’t see any way back up with what little I have left. __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

Omers how are there not consequences for your son? What would happen to him if you were not here?
