I haven't seen my T in a little over two weeks and today they emailed me to 'check in' and see how I'm going.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Thanks |

Mine doesn't use email. She uses text but has never checked in.

Never on his own. He will reply if I email him.

Mine never did. I think it's lovely that yours has though especially if they were worried about you. I know some therapists wouldn't do this because they'd want us to start trusting our own ability to cope in between sessions.

Mine has only if I asked her to at a previous session. She will reply to my emails that I send her between sessions.

I could see mine calling if he had reason for concern but I doubt he would email... unless he was afraid I was super triggered because he knows when I am scared email is the safest for me.

We didn't email or text, but they would have called me if I hadn't seen them without explanation for a few weeks. Rarely happened. Almost always, they knew what was going on. Occasionally, if they knew something was going on (like an illness or something in the family), they would call just to see how things were going. I appreciated their thoughts and taking the time to check in.

No and it would have pissed me off if they had. For me, that would be unforgivably intrusive.

my T has texted me once or twice unbidden, before. It was because she knew I was going through something at that time, so she sent me some encouragement. If I no-showed for a week or two, I could see her calling/texting or emailing.

The few times my T initiates email, she just tells me if something comes up and she can't do our scheduled session. I email her more often but she doesn't usually reply.

My T doesn't have an e-mail address (at least for work). We both text for scheduling purposes, but he's never texted me to check in on me or something like that. I could imagine him doing that if it were somehow discussed beforehand in session, but not just randomly.
