I'm trying to figure out logistics for school pick up and drop off for my kids. They'll be in 3 different schools this year.
#1 Son will be going to a middle school 15-20 minutes away. His classes start at 8:30, gets out at 3:45. Wednesdays he gets out at 2:15. He can be there as early as 8am. #2 Son Will be at the elementary school that takes maybe 10 minutes to walk there, less than 5 to drive. He could technically walk if we want. His school starts at 8:20, he can get there at 8/8:10 and gets out at 3:30 #3 Daughter will be in preK again at another school 10 minutes away in the opposite direction. Drop off will be easy since it's not until 12:00, school gets out for her at 3:10. H said one of us will have to pick up daughter then son at elementary school. And the other will pick up our oldest. Wednesday pick ups will be the easiest probably. Pick up oldest, preschool, then elementary. I think I'm over planning and over thinking this. I guess we'll see how drop off goes on Wednesday when the 2 oldest will be in school. |

Why can't the oldest ride the bus? I am not a parent, but I am an avid reader and listener of true crime stuff. I would therefore probably be too worried to let son #2 walk to school by himself.
Maybe a carpool could be worked out? __________________ Life is hard. Then you die. Then they throw dirt in your face. -David Gerrold |

Oldest is out of district per our choice for more support for him and they don't provide transportation. It would make it a heck of a lot easier.
I do think I'm over thinking it, and will end up doing what H is suggesting. 1 of us picks up 2 of them, the other picks up our oldest. It'll take some getting used to, and will be hectic, but it's only for a year. |

It could be the start of an episode - doesn't feel like it but I never know. It doesn't bother me. The meds bother me since I gained 70 pounds. My friend said "Do you want a good mind or a good body". I said "Good body" Apparently that wasn't the answer she was looking for |

I saw my sister today and got to meet her new boyfriend. He was nice. She was being a brat: cursing, yelling, being rude. And she's stupid. She told me that she might be pregnant again! That would be 3 kids under 3. The good news is that she's letting me come to my niece's 2nd birthday party. I can't wait to see her and give her all her toys. I haven't seen her in about 6 months.

I know the name but I haven't seen it recently. I don't think I've ever eaten one.

It's my second night off this week. I had to stay up all night so that I can sleep during the day so that I'll be awake for my shift. I actually got some stuff done--baked some banana bread, practiced drawing, fixed the basket on my bike, took out the recycling, changed the sheets on the bed, put some books away in my bookshelf, paid my psychiatrist, deposited a month's worth of paychecks, studied the language I'm learning, did some general neatening-up. I also made some progress in the video game I'm playing (Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii--I bought a used Wii so that I'd have something to do during these nights off when I have to stay up).
It was still a long night--it's just weird to be up and puttering around while the rest of the city is asleep. |

I love being a night owl, but the sort of things I'd like to do then--like take a long walk--I don't feel safe doing. Plus, my body feels so much better when I keep to a more normal bed by midnight--2AM, wake up 8--10AM.

Una, how can you eat canned veg when it's the height of the harvest season? I can't eat canned veg at any time--they all taste like can to me--but esp in summer--NOOOO!!! |

Or at least do frozen veggies! My mom used to make canned asparagus, canned green beans, canned peas (though the fancy LeSeur ones) when I was a kid. The first time I had fresh asparagus, it was a revelation. Same with green beans (and I guess peas?) |

I hate veggies. I have toddler-like taste buds most of the time. I do eat those frozen birds eye veggie pastas...but they don’t really count as veggies.

Ugh--canned green beans are the worst, I think. So metallic tasting! I use canned chick peas and black beans occasionally, but rinse them really well. But even chick peas are so much better cooked from dried.

Oh, I do use canned black beans and chickpeas. Not sure I've tried cooking chickpeas from dried. Tried black beans once or twice, but apparently didn't season them enough. I do make dry lentils though. |

I can't say I'm a lima bean fan--it's a textural thing. But I like broad beans and lupini.
Jersey, I bet I could turn you around on veg! So many different textures, sweet to bitter tastes! Color! What's not to like? Because I don't want to run the oven when it's hot, I'm not roasting these days. So I'm using my bamboo steamer: I put handfulls of dried herbs and unpeeled garlic cloves in the water pot, set the steamer baskets on top, and put little potatoes in the bottom layer, then add other veg in layers acc to cooking time: beets (in open foil basket or they'll stain the steamer), green beans, asparagus, squash, sugar snap peas, red and orange peppers! Then let cool to warm and toss with your favorite salad dressing. I like just a little balsamic glaze best. YUM! |
