I feel a teeny bit better this morning. I'm afraid all the bad feelings are going to come back full force and knock me on my bottom. I'm cautiously optimistic at the moment. I'm a little frustrated because I can't get the bank statement to reconcile at work and had to ask for help, but that's okay. Asking for help isn't always bad. I'm trying to learn that lesson. I went out with my friend last night and got coffee. By the time I spent an hour or so with her I was feeling more stable and less crisis-y. I went to bed early and slept in late today because I'm exhausted. Maybe getting a little extra sleep helped. I'm glad tomorrow is Friday and I can see T. This has been one long week. HUGS Kit

They know what they are saying! Sounds like you get it too! Some of my best conversations have been with cats and dogs. its on an emotional level.

Sometimes when I read about therapy on blogs, client articles, case studies, books etc I think to myself - if you are an example of therapy working - then I am glad it never did anything to help me. Dodged a bullet it seems.

I bought a new book the other day called "Rewire Your Anxious Brain" and I'm really excited to have a look at it and start making positive changes outside of therapy.
Thanks for this!

My conversations with the pets are not on an emotional level. My pets believe in stoicism from their humans. They enjoy intellectual banter and philosophical nihilism.

I just lost the only TA for one of my big lecture courses. The athletics department demanded him for the basketball team to teach them World Cultures (they’re doing an international tour thing later this semester).

I am completely screwed.

That sounds highly inconvenient ATAT. I hope you're able to find a workaround.

Inconvenient doesn’t even begin to describe it. Me, having to do everything (like grading) for 111 students, with a 90+ person at least online course also with no help and a 150+ person course with a couple of graders who will need supervision.

And yet there are still discussions about why students can't write: how do they expect us to assign writing with such high student numbers?

I once taught a writing class of 68 non-native speakers. Right. I put them in groups and we did collaborative writing and I ran the class like a workshop--WTH else could I do?

Teaching has much in common with coal mining.

I started season 2 of In Treatment (Paul getting sued). All I could think during the first episode was, “Paul is an idiot and SD would totally make him into mincemeat on the stand.”

And, with respect to the other thing, our basketball team isn’t even any *good.* I’m a better teacher than they are a basketball team.

My sister just forwarded me an email from our high school: our favorite teacher there, the nun who taught history and anthropology, and my favorite teacher of all time, just died.

She was a huge influence in turning me into the scholar I am today.
