I always thought Xs were the kiss, but I'm not sure why. It had nothing to do with the shape of the letters since I never even considered that. I think maybe I associated X with kiss because x = something dirty and sexual, and I see kissing that way more so than hugging. Totally not saying that is a good or sound reason, but I think that was probably what was behind it for me.

Apparently I am in the minority on the internet.

How "XOXO" Came to Mean "Hugs and Kisses"

I wonder if there is some way I can blame my mother for this.

This was back before hugs took precedence. Before everybody started hugging everybody else like maniacs. In the olden days, we only hugged somebody when they left town forever, in a letter, with an O, which we mailed by walking 5 miles to the post office in the snow uphill both ways, and we liked it!

Could you maybe get the therapist/life coach to agree not to do therapy at you? I've used Info in a more life coach-y way at times. They get paid either way.

Also, life coaches don't usually have to go through a licensing process. I'd actually trust a therapist who was also a life coach more than someone who just called themselves a life coach.

I emailed one today that was a therapist/life coach and told her in the email I don’t any therapy. I’m simply looking for help with A, B and C. I guess maybe I’ll hear back tomorrow since it’s Sunday.

There are plenty of job openings for life coaches in the area just not any coaches. The pastor only wanted 50 bucks an hour but when he told me in the email that he believes God will lead my way, I told him no thanks.

Hey couchies. Got a new-to-me car yesterday and today was stopped in traffic and told I had no brake lights. While out of town visiting my oldest. The warranty will fix it at no cost to me, however that office and all vehicle dealerships are closed on Sundays. So of course I drove it home from her house with no brake lights, and will drive it tomorrow to have it repaired. Grrrrr, the whole point of getting a low mileage car was reliability.

Sorry to rant. Hugs and head-nods for all, hope you had a good weekend.

Glad it is covered under the warranty. But what a pain to deal with

So I have somehow become the department expert on getting rid of disruptive students—the chair sent someone to talk to me about one. This other student is stalking the TA of his class. I suggested calling the police quite strongly.

(It was such an annoying email chain—no one saying, “okay, we are going to do this” or expressing concern for the TA’s safety. There seemed to be a lot of stress on how they only had her word for it.)

Oh geez. Haven't they ever heard of liability? Not too long ago I read something, I think in Inside Higher Ed, about how these cases go so wrong. It was always because the top admin were trying to shield the college from bad publicity and lawsuits and so dragged their feet and obfuscated; it always came back to bite them. They need to get accountable and fast.

There was a case at my Univ in Japan where a student with a long history of mental health issues stalked a colleague of mine. Even though her history was well known--and the Univ did nothing to address her issues--they didn't tell my colleague about them. After months of being stalked by her, he told his dept chair. The stalking escalated, he complained.
Possible trigger:
And he was fired, completely unjustly. But in Japan, there are no pure victims.

I think you're a welcome source of wisdom.

I think you've made a very good point of calling the police. It's not something anyone would make up. Her safety should come first.

From the 29th my school schedule Monday to friday will start at 7.30am-12.30am then extra lectures on tuesdays, wenesdays and thursdays starting at 2-3.40pm.

I emailed R with my new schedule and he got back to me saying he doesn't have slots that correspond with my schedule only in the evenings, but he's always charged his full rate of £63 for those (I've always paid £40 a session and I've done twice a week when I had exams so £80.) But I don't think I can justify the higher price for one session especially when I'm not even working at the moment.

I know I was doing the push pull thing with him and I can go back when/ if my schedule changes next year but this ending for now feels kinda sudden. Or maybe I could do a session every 2-3 weeks.? Or just leave it for now.

Oprah has put some full old episodes on youtube, instead of her usual clips.

X= kiss
O=hugs

XOXO I watched a lot of gosspi girl too, that's what she always ended with.
