Was just wondering if any of you know something strange or weird about your therapists. Whether they told you, or you found out somehow?

I know some of the details surrounding the conception of her first child. Nothing graphic, but more than you would think she would tell me.

That he and his partner had had an abortion. There was a reason this was shared with me and it felt like a really profound moment between the two of us.

Our T is pretty good at managing to not disclose anything about herself, now that we think about it. It actually seems weird seeing the inside of her house doing video appointments right now. Because she never talks about herself...

I always figured the fact they were therapists was weird enough. I didn't need to know anything else about them.

She majored in home economics.

Which tells you how old she is.

I know way too much stuff about ex ts, some they told me and some I found out. Sometimes I wonder if the stuff they said is true? I have no way of knowing. I am too curious.

I know something that surprised me a lot when she told me, but I don't dare write it here just in case.

I know tons about T. Some things T had told me and others I have found. Honestly I can’t say any of it is weird. There is a whole lot of things from relationships to health issues to hobbies. But I can’t think of anything weird. I guess some may be because I have always known he is human and some may be because he is the most consistent human being I have ever encountered.

I don’t really know anything about her. I never ask. When I asked a therapist I had as a teenager personal questions she always said “I’m the therapist and your the client and I’m the one who’s supposed to be asking the questions.” So that just stuck with me as an adult and I find her personal life to be none of my business.

She came into session flustered once, which was unlike her. I asked whether she was OK.

"There's a chicken walking down the road...and I'm not good with birds."

It's nothing to do with why I'm in therapy, but my fear is heights, so I get it.

I have been trying to think of something weird. I know A LOT about my Ts. Not sure with T if any of it wa weird other than it was probably weird that she told me so much.

With EMDR T she once was talking about how she does for long hikes where she will be gone for days or weeks at a time, well she did before having a child. She is a minimalist when she hikes. She talked about how that works with going to the bathroom. Then we laughed when she realized it was probably TMI.

Ex Marriage T I knew that he beat up another guy after being bullied. I guess he was trying to tell me to stand up for myself but it was really weird. T1 I know that he is in recovery from addiction about 15 years ago. He shared that info on his website.

I know that t had a very tough time last year and she split up with her husband. I asked her how she was and she said I am on the edge but still hanging on.

With L, the two weirdest things are her favorite animal and a health problem she has. They aren't too weird, but I also don't know too much about her. T, I know almost nothing about.

Not sure if this counts as "weird" in general, but weird for my T. Today, we were talking about the poet Shel Silverstein briefly because my D is doing a poetry unit in second grade, and they're reading some of his poems. Talked about him a minute, and Dr. T said one of his favorite poems is by him: "Hug O'War." Which...seems sort of the opposite of my T's non-warm-and-fuzzy persona. So it was a weird thing for *him.*

She's done work in hospitals, working with people who have gone through surgery and doing a paper on it, plus she is on a few boards, she opened up a trial clinic or something like that in a hospital to treat people with psychosomatic symptoms. So it sounds like she's a big deal. Which is intimidating because then she sees me once a week and we talk about my stuff.

A producer from a TV show called him and asked if he wanted to be on a TV show about sex to provide a therapeutic opinion.

I saw half an episode it was the the most cringest thing I have ever seen- glad he said no.
