Yeah, I got the sense that the baseball thing is more of a standoff between players and owners rather than a safety thing. I do hope football will return in the fall...with empty stadiums or whatever other measures are needed to keep it safer (I imagine frequent testing for one). Fantasy football is a good diversion for me that distracts me from other stuff and helps use the OCD portion of my brain in a less destructive way. But that, basketball, and hockey are all sports where there's a lot of close contact, so could be more challenging to bring back than baseball or, say, tennis.

I think i am mainly stressing about ringing my ex i want him to talk to my daughter because last night she was really negative and refuted anything i said and in thneend she justbdidnt care. Maybe she will listen to him. I am sure she got it wrong she was saying her friend who left school voluntarily said the school said that she didnt really need her final qualification. I find it odd that a school would say that as funding depends on pupil numbers amongst other things.

I know I function better without consuming news, even before the pandemic...so why am I consuming news? Self sabotage...

Just talked to the school guidance counsellor and feel more calm there is still time for my daughter to get the points she needs to graduate and seeking help is definitely helping as they can slow any expulsion action.

I dont if this is the case with you but when i have something that seriously threatens my stability i will read the news and find something less threatening and concentrate on that until i can deal with the original thing.
Or until my psyche packs the thing up and buries it again

Does anybody know what it's called when you have a professional stretch your mouth out for you? Is it dentists that do that? I can't remember.

I know what you mean.... I try not to watch it but then what do I do in the evening? Turn on the stupid news. I finally convinced h to not watch it all day long while I'm working, but now I can't not watch it in the evening. I really need to stop. Let's both not watch it this evening?

I wonder what’s up with Info? In April she said she planned to be back in the office June 1. Then when I told her last month I needed a break because I hate teletherapy, she said she’d be out part of June and she’d update me. It’s halfway through June. Forget rising cases here, doesn’t she know the Couch needs her fashion sense?

(Yes, I could just email and ask. But I prefer to decide she’s forgotten me and work myself into a snit and start a rupture. More fun that way.)

Today's session with R was useless and he commented on my "wave upon wave of hostility."

I'm just now leaving the ER. For the past 5 days I've had stomach pain amd nausea. I was in so much pain tonight, I decided to get seen. Foumd out I have a gallstone They're sending me home with pain meds, and I'm supposed to follow up with a surgeon. Oh joy! Not.

Ugh, I'm sorry, Scarlet. It's good you went and got checked out. My sister-in-law had to have her gallbladder removed a few years ago due to gallstones, and I think her recovery was pretty quick. Still hope you won't have to have surgery.

I went to bed early last night because I wasn't feeling well, so I woke up bright and early at 5am this morning. Nothing much to do--I'm mostly just killing time until an end-of-residency meeting with my program director at 1:30, session at 3:00, and then various phone calls and appointments after that. I wish I had more to do, but I guess I should be grateful for the free time.

I'm sorry you're going through that, Scarlet but I'm really glad you got checked out. Not a good thing to ignore, as I found out in the wee hours of my 40th birthday when I had mine removed. I had stubbornly refused to go to the doctor for over a week in so much pain I was stomping around my house screaming from it until the night I passed out in the kitchen and h made me go to the ER; I had emergency surgery that night. As I recall, that recovery was easier/shorter than my appendectomy a year ago. (Of course I was 18 years younger then!) Anyway I'm glad you found out what's going on and please do follow up with the surgeon.

I dreamed last night that I was taking a shower and the blinds over the window were broken and i had only a thin curtain over them, and there was this weirdo creeper outside looking in at me with his hands cupped around his eyes. For some reason I couldn't get the shower door open to get out and was yelling at H to come help me get the door open and trying to wrap the shower curtain around me. Which makes no sense why there would be both a shower curtain and door. Silly dream-maker.

I ignored my gallbladder pain for a year because I didn't want to go to the ER. That only made it worse when I did have to get it removed and I ended up spending 3 days in the hospital.

It sounds like they caught it early - be glad for that! I hope you feel better soon!

Wow, you are stubborn Artie! I went to the ER the first night because the pain was terrible and I had no idea what was causing it. I ended up not having mine surgically removed. After a few months with some milder issues, like tenderness and belching of all things, and one more attack (at least I knew what it was this time), I haven't had an issue since. But I also had a pretty good idea that a very sudden change in diet is what instigated my attack. Don't do months-long juice fasts people. And if you do, don't end them with a slice of Costco pizza. And don't take medical advice from me. I did what was right for me at the time and it worked out. Unless it's an emergency, I do suggest doing your research before having your gallbladder removed though.

I had mine taken out at the same time as my spleen back in 2013. It was barely functioning and kept having attacks, so I figured why not get a 2 in 1 surgery done. I stayed overnight in the hospital, but then was back on Christmas Eve because a blood clot in my lungs. Should have kept both organs.

Not meee! i love my little gall bladder These being the relevant emoji. Its either throbbing or sending me to the loo.

It got messed up twenty years ago (!) when i lost a few pounds, which i have since put half back on and am slowly peeling back off. Which would leave me less severely morbid, yay. But greatly improve my mobility, i know.

But my lovely little gall bladder! Helps me to not overeat, esp fatty foods. 1 unit of food, sure; twice that amount, it objects that night, and i am reminded the next time i am tempted to eat emotionally, rather than for actual hunger.

Its like my only connection to any organ in my body, when i think of it. Like except when i stub my toe or my fingernails get too long (one eighth inch of white).

Costco pizza does a number on my tummy - I can't eat it. Tastes good, but....

mine was an emergency cuz it had become so inflamed it was encroaching into my liver. I was in the hospital 4 days. My body has never been too happy with me, always doing weird stuff. Like a year ago I couldn't just have normal appendicitis, no my body had to make that appendiceal mucocele thing and give me shingles all at the same time. And the year before that the staph infection in my face that hospitalized me. and we won't even talk about my mental health issues. it's always trying to mutiny in one way or another! haha

Do you mean moving your jaw, or releasing gum attachments, like you cant lift your upper lip?

I think maybe stretching your jaw. I know somebody who went to someone (it may have been her dentist but I can't remember) and he stretched her mouth out. She said it was scary but helpful.

I am sitting through the most ****ing useless training session in this technology we're using to teach this fall (staggered attendance, so we lecture in-person and via some Zoom offshoot called Flex at the same time). I am so confused and frustrated (and so is everyone else) about the way the university is communicating overall about the fall.

And the moderator just yelled at us for asking questions about *faculty*, not *students*. Well, duh. We have health too.

I've contacted the ADA office last week and asked to be exempted from teaching in-person for my small courses because everyone will be wearing masks and I won't be able to hear. No masks on Zoom and I can get a captioning program if I need it. Haven't heard back yet.
