Ok... looking for thoughts... most on here know about T1 and I. We’ve been working together for a little over a year and overall have a good working relationship. This past week I asked about seeing another T (T2) in the same building on alternating weeks from T1. T1 suggested a strong female mentor would be helpful to me and working with both T1 and T2 was my way of having that female influence. T2 and I have set an appointment for the beginning of next month. T2 offered an appointment for 1:30 on a Monday which I agreed to. My standing appointment with T1 is Monday at 1. So... my question... I know that T1 will still have my 1:00 open for that week. Should I ask about meeting with T1 at 1 then having T2 join us from 1:30-2:00 and then have from 2:00-2:30 alone with T2. I would have some time with T1 to check in and discuss and worries. Then all three of us could discuss our expectations. Then I could meet alone with T2 for the last 30min of my session with her. Obviously they would have to agree but I think it would set the tone for open communication.
I am very comfortable with T1, T1 and T2 are comfortable together and I think I would be more relaxed initially with T2. Oddly I feel comfortable with her as part of the team but am starting to feel really scared of doing therapy one-on-one with her (which I believe is irrational as I have always had a good impression of her until the appointment was set).

Are T1 and T2 working as a "team" or are they working separately? If you are doing therapy one-on-one with T2 I think the best way to get comfortable with that is to meet with her, without making things complicated.

Yes, we are working as a team but most sessions will be one-on-one alternating weeks. The reason for two T’s is that with my history there are a lot of issues with men and another huge set with women because of the scope and variety of trauma. I have made a lot of progress with my male T but once I decided he was safe I bonded with him pretty easily. My struggles with women are far more complicated. T1 is T2’s supervisor anyway so they work together regularly. I think once I get past the initial session will be the hardest. I really kind of liked her the few times we talked in the waiting area. My being afraid of her only started after we set the appointment for her to be my T.
