Hi,

Have a great therapist. Have a history of complex abuse and constant bereavement.

I am disabled. Last session therapist was going on about wanting to get my Dr involved.

This frustrated me, I felt so low and powerless that I bit myself immediately after the session. I just felt so disempowered.

Therapist knows I bit myself immediately after session, and she knows it was triggered by her in part.

Saw Dr, he was great, said he knew me biting myself was out of frustration and he had no further concerns for my mental health.

So today I get this:

'Hi Hannah, just to keep you updated, I have supervision a week today. I need to discuss everything with my supervisor to process it all, including my own feelings in all this. I will then message you regarding resumption of therapy'
.

Is therapist going to dump me?

She knows I didn't sleep for 72 hours after last session. She also knows that since not sleeping for 72 hours, now on average, I'm only sleeping 2 hours a night.

Don't think sleep will improve till therapy starts up again.

:-(

She might, judging by the fact that she put your sessions on hold. Clearly she doesn't feel able to see you either because she feels like she's doing more harm than good or because she's having negative feelings about your actions that could affect how she interacts with you. Or both.

I don't really get your psychiatrist's response because it isn't healthy to hurt oneself due to frustration. That suggests you don't have a healthy outlet to express anger, which is certainly bad for your mental health.

It was the first time I've ever self harmed.

Although I wouldn't call biting myself as a one off isolated incident self harm.

My carers think T will resume with me, purely because she mentions 'regarding resumption of therapy' in her text.

Hi, I don't think it means she will dump you. If every therapist dumped their client when they self harmed or reacted to a stressful situation like that, where would we be!

I hope you can get some sleep. I can be extra crazy if I'm sleep deprived...its not pretty.

Not necessarily... but from what your T writes it seems it is a possibility and would depend on the outcome of that supervisory meeting.

I find it a bit extreme if your T were to do this. But if she did let you go, it only shows that she is not a good fit i.e. not skilled enough to help you move forward. I mean, she even admitted her feelings were getting in the way..
Thanks for this!
