Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.
Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely. This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means. It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends. We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience. Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread. Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy. The only telephone area code in northern minn, probably til 2050, even including cell phones, faxes, etc. - not a lot o' folks up there! |

Betsy Tacy and Tib were from southern Minn. Their city (Mankato) is on the wiki phone map from the 1950's. I was charmed. Hence (thence? Whence?) the couch.

I dated a woman from minnesota once. Unless it was Wisconsin. I have been to both and can't tell them apart. She was the one truly batshit crazy ex I have. She is now a therapist.
And she was batshit crazy. __________________ Please NO @ Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. Oscar Wilde Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. |

When I was going out with her, she was just a batshit crazy lawyer. I have no idea why someone would choose to be a therapist. It is at the top of several careers I absolutely never ever found compelling in any way. It even beats out nun.

Possible trigger:
Maybe try freeze dried fruit? It would be chalky, like your pom-pom stick or whatever its called. Not mushy, i guess most fruits and veg are mushy or get mushy. How about fresh snap peas? They are very crisp and i think delightful. It has a singular flavor, rather sweet. Not too tough. Carrots are hard unless sliced very thin, but they have a mild, sweet flavor. Peas are the first veg i remember eating, straight from the garden. Pears have the worst texture, mushy AND particles will get stuck under your gums, but they have a divine aroma and taste. Same for pineapple. And that is the end of lunas cooking show for today! |

I have issues with lots of fruit texture, too. Pears are gritty. Bananas--ugh, just can't deal with those at all. Plums, nectarines, grapes, blueberries, and strawberries can all be OK. Apples sometimes. Some melons. I think what's hard for me about eating fruit is that, unless you put it on cereal (or make it into a dessert), it's like, "OK, I'm gonna eat this piece of fruit now!" While veggies are much easier to just incorporate into a meal, at least for me. Like pasta with peppers and mushrooms (or broccoli), for example. |

That struck me funny! Why is that weird? Thats what my dad used to do: "im gonna eat an apple, you want some?" He would sit at his place at the table with a knife and the fruit. No plate. But i guess thats exactly why its not weird to me, you said exactly what my dad used to say. That IS funny.

That's funny! Thanks for sharing. I keep having good intentions and buying plums, then not eating them (or maybe eating just one). I've been doing this produce service called Hungry Harvest, where it's items that were either overstocked or too unattractive for stores, so it's a lot cheaper. Plus home delivery. And the guinea pigs like it! |
