So, my T is pregnant.
It's not that she's gain weight during lockdown, she is actually pregnant. I don't know how to feel about it. like I'm happy for her but then I start wondering how long she's planning to take off and she hasn't said anything about that yet. maternity leave can ranges from 2 months to a year or even longer and I just want to know how long she's going to be away. if anyone have been through this, how long did your T take? |

I have not but in my area 12 weeks seem pretty standard.

My first ever T I had planned to take 6 months off for maternity leave, but ended up leaving the profession altogether as she had some issues around the pregnancy.
You could ask her what her plan is, there's no shame in wanting to plan ahead.. even if it doesn't work out like you thought it would. |

T took longer than 6 months off. I forget how long because I already attached to L and decided to stay with her.

My ex T took 9 months but only went back part time so couldn’t take on as many clients as before. I think she more than halved her caseload. It’s completely individual so the only way you’re going to know is to ask her. But even if she has an idea of what time she might take now, that may change when the baby arrives.

You may want to note specifically that you're in the UK since maternity leave is usually way shorter in the US. (We're usually considered "lucky" to get six weeks.)

My ex-T took a year, and then only came back part-time and stopped seeing clients with complex trauma.
My current t (who took maternity leave for both of her children before I began seeing her) took a year for every child. As hard as it is, it is also an opportunity to do some different work with a different T. Every T has strengths and blindspots. WHile your T is away you could work on some other challenges you experience before returning to your current T when she comes back from maternity leave. I stayed with the T I went to when ex-T went on leave. This T has turned out to be much more helpful to me because of her different style. don't panic. It's hard and challenging when T goes away for a time, but there are some benefits to it as well ,even though it probably doesn't feel like it at the moment. |

I suggest you ask her directly how long she plans to be away and what she suggests for you meanwhile. She might have someone to refer you to in mind?
