The book is called 'Cutting it out' by Carolyn Smith, it is on Amazon and I read it as a e-book. It does talk about self harm, and abuse, so trigger warning.
It is such a quirky and deeply accurate description of the way she thought about of her therapist, and what was going through her mind. Would really recommend, still one of my favourite books to date. It's not very long too. I read the first few chapters, and just couldn't put it down, and finish it all in one go. |

I am always desperate to connect with 'others like me'. I downloaded this book on Kindle yesterday, read half but the character seemed much too simple for me to relate to,
I was sort of jealous of how straightforward it all was for them. Why am I like this, where are the others like me. Then I wanted to self harm, I won't, because I'm pregnant though. |

One of the most helpful books to progress in therapy that I’ve read recently was recommended to me by my therapist. It’s called ‘Unshame’ by Carolyn Spring. It was literally like she had taken all my thoughts and feelings and put them on to paper. Highly recommended for anyone that struggles with any aspect of shame or trauma.

I don't have a problem with actual SH (although I have had the impulse to do it many times in my life), but I have to say that the book looks like an excellent one. Well-written with consideration. I'm going to check and see if my library has it available.
